At this gritty, intimate venue downtown, you're equally likely to see a popular band up close and personal, discover your new favorite band, or meet new friends singing YOLO karaoke or watching a drag show performed by the House of Coxx, Durham's drag house. Either way, you'll find a space committed to inclusion, equity and amplifying marginalized voices. The queer-owned bar is a favorite venue for music and creative events as much as it is a safe space.

Just moved here and in my search for a gritty, authentic live music venue, I hit the jackpot. What a cool vibe this place has, and I love their focus on independent, original music. I'm looking forward to having some very enjoyable nights here. -
I recently got married in downtown Durham and was looking for a fun spot to host an afterparty where one of my bridesmaids could DJ. After reaching out to a few places, Kym at Pinhook came through and couldn’t have been more accommodating. The vibes were amazing, and the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. Even when the power went out because of an accident on the block, they let us stay and chill until it came back. The energy at Pinhook is unmatched. If you’re looking for a cool place to hang, see performers, or throw an event, definitely check them out! -
We hosted our wedding afterparty here, and we had an absolutely incredible time! The price to rent the entire place out for a Saturday evening is fantastic compared to anywhere else in the area. The bartenders were awesome, and the venue was clean and super easy to set up and coordinate with! The little patio you can access was the perfect break for a breath of fresh air, and the venue recommended Gemynii as a DJ, which turned out to be the PERFECT rec!! Gemynii's sets were incredible, and they work at the Pinhook frequently so they didn't need to ask any additional questions in order to get set up. If you're looking to rent out a cool bar for the night (our party was for about 35 people and there was definitely space to have more), the Pinhook is a great choice -
Had such a great time at The Pinhook last night seeing Wes Parker!
The whole experience was just really solid from start to finish. The staff was super sweet and welcoming, which always makes a difference right away. You can tell it’s a place that actually cares about the vibe they’re creating.
The drink prices were honestly really reasonable too. There were four of us on my tab, we each probably had around 5 to 6 drinks, all cocktails, and my total tab was about $165, which felt more than fair for a night out like that.
The sound quality was great, which is obviously huge for a music venue, and everything felt well balanced without being overwhelming. They also have a really nice back patio area for smoking and hanging out, which was a great bonus between sets.
Overall, just a really fun, easy place to catch a show. I would absolutely come back here again! -
Attended a private party there. Staff was friendly and helpful. Drinks were reasonably priced. Industrial vibe
