The Oak House

The original location of The Oak House in Elon, NC was such a success that its owners decided to expand. Their craft coffee/wine bar concept is now in the heart of downtown Durham on the ground floor of One City Center. Grab a cup of coffee during the day, and at night, cozy up at the bar or table with a great glass of wine. The Oak House prides itself on having the best of both worlds.

I have been trying out a few coffee shops in Durham downtown since I work remotely. I will say this has been by far the best coffee shop to work, read a book, or just hang out. I love their vibe, their friendly service, the staff is always ready to serve and has a smile on their face! Their coffee is very good, had their latte, pumpkin spice latte - which I LOVED and I’m not big on pumpkin spice lattes they all seem way too sweet and can’t taste the coffee. Their croissants are so fluffy and buttery too! Truly my go to place! -
The best coffee in this part of downtown hands down. Me and my coworkers work 2 streets away and come here all the time, whether for a warm pastry or iced latte. Their teas are delicious as well. Taurian, Sam, and the whole team have always been super kind. It is also never a struggle to find seating here to do remote work! -
Coffee is going to be standard specialty coffee. It's good, but nothing to write home and tell your mom about. They offer different sizes of cappuccinos, the smallest being 12oz.
Very friendly staff! Environment is very clean. A great place to meet up for coffee, wine, or whisky.
Clean bathrooms, but you'll need a key. Fast wifi. Great place to work from home, though it can get a little loud.
Surprisingly good pasties! They warm them up in an oven, not a microwave, so the croissant stays crispy!! -
I visited here after dinner to read a book, and the atmosphere is really great for chilling out!
They have both regular tables and bar seating. Coffee, wine and beer available.
The menu has a wide variety of options.
Tried the decaf Americano and it was really good. -
Very chill atmosphere. Great for a meeting before going to a show at DPAC!
Maya and Hussein gave wonderful service! I will definitely return here again!
