Very busy on Friday... gives you a long time to read over the menu and already have a question in mind for your busy server... This was my second time here, my food was better the 1st time... it was slow week day night...Garlic Kale was bomb! 2nd time it was a bit tough but still great tasting!

In the middle of mother's day and graduation weekend, this place had a line as soon as it opened. It was easy to tell why as soon as the food came (the wait wasn't long and service is quick and polite). All three dishes or table ordered were fantastic. Awesome selection of sides and dietary restrictions (vegetarian and gluten free options labeled and available). Definitely check out Luna's if you're in downtown Durham. You can walk around while you wait for table (they can text you when it's ready!) It's worth the wait.

Very neat restaurant! Not sure what they serve. I assume chicken and the sign said rotisserie and empanadas. So that's something! Enjoy downtown Durham it's a great place for Pokemon GO!

Not at all what I expected. The service was great and the food was an awesome and eclectic mix of different South American countries. The staff was knowledgeable and help explained all the different dishes and drinks.

The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is fantastic. I have not had one thing here that I have not enjoyed and everything always comes out extremely quickly even when the place is packed. I can't stop coming here!

Finally got to try Luna’s for lunch! Loved the empanadas and coconut rice w/beans! The fries were also good. It was quick service and great food at a reasonable price, so I’ll definitely be back.

Fast service but I haven't enjoyed the food I have gotten in the past. I've been 3 times. I'm willing to try it again. Cute spot though. Limited outdoor seating.

Hands down the best food I’ve had in Durham. The collard greens are the best I’ve ever had in my life and I’m from NC, Durham actually. Do yourself a favor, invite a bunch of people and GO!

Good rotisserie meats, a good variety of choice. Empanada crust is very well executed, but filling volume is a bit light.

Empanadas are awesome especially the vegetarian ones. Only problem is the hostess, the guy is rude and basically shut me up while asking about the ice cream options during lunch all I said to him was “ok” he followed with “are you going to let me finish” later he tried to make up for it with a free lemonade for my daughter. Haven’t been there since. He needs a refresher on how to treat customers the girl working next to him just stayed quiet and looked away talk about awkward.

We enjoyed dinner here before a show at DPAC. Fast and friendly service. Our chicken, empanadas, and sides were delicious. I also liked the jalapeno lemonade.

Delicious food, however the staff made my experience outstanding. I didn't get his name, but the male bartender working on the night of 11/25 was great! He was extremely personable, friendly, and accommodating. I'm unsure of her title, but Sam was nothing less than exceptional. It was my first time in Durham and it was approaching the end of her shift, but my personal interests/questions about the area seemed to outweigh any urge for her to get out the door and call it a night. It's employees like these that make or break an establishment. Kudos to these two and whoever hired them. This will be my number one choice whenever my travels bring me back to Durham. (Sleek, clean, and modern with an inviting atmosphere)

I have been here for quick lunch during the work day and date night on the weekends. Great for both! Lunch is FAST and in the evenings the cocktails and service are great. And of course the food is delicious.

I ordered the Lasagna and a side salad. The lasagna was good (not great but good). I think the bowl it was served in must not have been warmed because the lasagna was not hot on the outside but very hot on the inside. Make sure they really warm the bowl they serve it in to keep the meal hot!

Excellent service, fresh food and consistent quality! Try to arrive early so you can get a seat but if you have to wait it is worth it! I would offer six stars if that was a possible choice this place is so great!

Luna has very good food. It describes itself as South America meets the American South, and perhaps that is accurate but I would just say they have good food with a variety of wood roasted rotisserie meat options that can be done plates with sides or as empanadas, sandwiches using smashed fried plantains as bread, or in grain bowls or salads. Most everything has vegetarian options there are a number of delicious side options. Food sourced locally. Nothing fancy about the establishment as you counter order before sitting and then food is brought to you, but it is a nice enough spot to eat delicious, fresh food.

So delicious! Every time my husband and I go here the food is always delicious. It's a very cool atmosphere with some individual tables and booths but it also has two shared tables right in the middle. My husband had his Christmas work party catered by them and everything was great! I would recommend trying some of their juices because they are amazing. The staff is always super friendly and seem to actually enjoy their job which is always nice to see!

Yummy food. Had the jackfruit pisao and a bunch of sides. The jackfruit pisao was a huge portion. The yucca, mac and cheese, and black beans and coconut rice sides were yummy.

One of my very favorite restaurants in Durham. It’s a great spot for vegans & omnivores alike. I absolutely love everything on the menu, especially the barbecue jackfruit dishes, but I have to say their sautéed garlicky kale is my favorite of any sautéed greens anywhere. The atmosphere is also great for any occasion.

Been here several times and have gotten a different dish every time. Every one was delicious! They have lots of gluten free options and even a vegan/vegetarian jackfruit option to use instead of meat in each dish.

Thought this would be a nice lunch with some extended family and boy am I glad we chose this place. We are from Miami and miss non-Mexican Latin food all the time. We had the rotisserie chicken, quinoa bowl with beef (almost like a ropa vieja), rice and beans, maduros and a passion fruit tart. All of it was super tasty. The flavors are legitimately South American with some southern tweaks. It definitely hit home and we left full. Highly recommend!

Luna is one of our go-to spots for dinner, so we were overjoyed that they were offering curbside pick up noting the coronavirus! Because we knew we'd want to get ice cream post dinner, we ended up sharing 3 empanadas and side of succotash. My fiance LOVES the quinoa empanadas, so we got 2 of those

Locally owned and operated with a commitment to sustainability. All North Carolina Public School Teachers receive a 10% discount. I enjoyed my meal with an extra emphasis on the collard greens! They respect their roots from the American South.

A small restaurant in Durham with Peruvian and South American dishes that had unexpected flavors and were generally delightful. I dont know if it was the spices used or the other preparations that tasted so good. Not a lot of food per dish but also not too expensive.

Low profile some of the best sides in Downtown Durham. However, meat volume/prize subpar. Delicious, but side sized. Heed. Order two main entrees.

Ordering was done in person via staff that came to your tables, typical restaurant experience, rather than the self-ordering that has become typical at a lot of bars. The patacon sandwiches are incredible - you just can't top them. Brisket in the plantain disks, with jicama slaw, jack cheese, and chili-lime mayo. Incredible.

My husband and I had dinner at Luna in Durham tonight...it wasn’t our first time and certainly won’t be our last. The food and drinks were amazing, but specifically I want to call out the service. We arrived shortly after 7, waited maybe 5 minutes (on a Saturday!) and were seated at the bar. From our seats, we could see every one of the staff HUSTLING! We felt very safe, appropriately distanced, etc, and were pleased to see staff enforcing the mask mandate for those not seated at a table. Overall, we were hugely impressed!

On a recent trip to Durham, NC we were given a gift card for Luna's Rotisserie and Empanadas. I am a foodie and I would say adventurous, but I was not to sure about going when I looked at their menu online. Well, I am glad I did- it was OUTSTANDING! Luna's is right in the heart of downtown Durham. The decor inside it urban chic with just a hit of South American flare. Our visit was during COVID, so they had outside and limited indoor seating. We were really happy to get a nice cozy booth inside. We felt very welcomed from the moment we walked in the door, which was very nice. Once we were seated our server arrived at the table to help guide us through our meal. Since we had no idea what to choose, we went with all of his suggestions. We started off with the Camote Chimichurri (Chipotle Roast Sweet Potatoes, Black Beans, Avocado, Sweet Corn, Chimichurri) and the Palomitas (Popcorn, Herbs, Spices, Lime Zest). They both were very good, but my favorite was the Camote Chimichurri, it was so delicious!! For our main course, I was really feeling comfortable and loving all of our server's suggestions. So I had the Patacon Pisao with the brisket. Now you might be like me and have no idea what a Patacon Pisac is, well it is: Meat, Jack Cheese, Jicama Kale Slaw, and Chili-Lime Mayo, Sandwiched Between Two Large Plantain Discs. I know it sounds totally crazy if you are not familiar with this type of cuisine. It was absolutely scrumptious! Jenni was not so adventurous, she had the 2 empanadas. One was Blackened Pulled Chicken, Yukon Gold, Roasted Peppers and the other was Pork Carnitas, Caramelized Onions, Hominy, Collards. She really enjoyed her meal too. We both were really full, but could not pass up the offer of dessert. I had the passionfruit tart and Jenni had the smores empanada. Our entire dining experience was a 10 out of 10! It is hard to think that I had doubts of trying this amazing place. I would be a regular if we lived in Durham. You must go and dine at Luna's Rotisserie and Empanadas- you will love it!!
