Duke University’s focal point for visual arts is the Rafael Viñoly-designed Nasher Museum of Art. The permanent collection focuses on work by underrepresented artists and artists of African descent and includes Medieval art, pre-Columbian American works, classical pieces, and an ever-growing list of modern and contemporary works. The striking building also houses an auditorium, two classrooms, and a café, and hosts lectures, artist talks, films, social gatherings and more. Free! Good medium sized museum with interesting exhibits and a nice cafe. Delicious chocolate chip cookie at the cafe you've got to try. Do the free kids activity to get a sticker.

Small but enjoyable museum on the Duke campus. Rotating exhibits encourages repeat visits. I will absolutely be back. Paid parking but free admission.

This is a very nice museum, and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The Dyani White Hawk exhibition was especially striking. It featured multiple languages and focusing on observation and learning rather than captions, which made the experience feel more immersive and thought-provoking.
I also enjoyed the Negro Sunshine exhibit. The artists truly captured powerful and engaging work throughout.
During my visit, I had the pleasure of speaking with a very kind staff member. I must have talked with her for at least 20 minutes in the gallery. She checked in on whether I was enjoying the museum and shared background information about some of the artists. She was incredibly personable, and I really felt welcomed and connected through our conversation.
Before leaving, I stopped by the gift shop and found a gem I couldn’t pass up. Giants: The Dean’s List Collection by Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz. :)
Overall, this is a beautiful museum with impactful exhibits, and I would definitely visit again.

This is one of my favorite museums. The art is very nice and well kept. Staff is friendly and attentive. It is small but mighty. Also, the eatery located inside is very nice. The food is very delicious. To top off your day visit the gift shop and purchase a gift for self or someone else.

Go visit! We travel and have been to many of the world's famous museums. This one is not in that category but don't bypass it. The art work is beautifully curated. There's a pleasant little cafe too. Oh, no charge for parking or entry!
