I had the best stay at this hotel recently! The staff and service is unmatched, I have never felt so welcomed and comfortable at a hotel before. They went above and beyond to accommodate us in any way that they could. The food is incredible as well! I loved the coffee service in the morning. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. They provided everything you could need on a trip and more! I will definitely be recommending this hotel and rebooking a visit for myself soon.

Updated, clean, comfortable, close to everything, good bar, good coffee. Rooftop drinks are a good time but great to get oysters too. Bryce is a top tier bartender- great cocktails and the right amount of engagement.

The rooftop bar is one of my favorite places in Durham! Not only is the setting lovely and the views terrific, the cocktails are actually really good!!

Best coffee in town. Such a surprise, went in on a spur of the moment on my way to the post office. What a wonderful place in the lobby to have a rest and sip on the best coffee in town. Seats are very comfortable and patrons low key and pleasant. A good place to do some work on your computer.

The hotel has a lot of charm. Apparently it’s an old bank which means the building is old, so keep that in mind. I stayed one night. My room was clean. The carpet actually looked new or freshly shampooed. Although the room did need a little paint and the window had mold/mildew. The body wash and lotion in the room were nice and I rarely use what hotels have in the room but I was a lazy packer. For someone reason everyone we encountered that worked there were not friendly except the gentleman that checked us in. He was great! I spoke to a man at the front desk, he looked angry and he didn’t speak back. We asked one of the host, for a table at the restaurant and her response to “do you have a table for two” was basically just “no”. It was an awkward exchange because she didn’t say when one would be available. As guest at the hotel it was weird that we couldn’t get a table at the restaurant and she wasn’t worried about it whatsoever. The bed was comfortable and they included a shower cap! I travel with one, but it’s nice when hotels have them. They valet which is great. I would stay again, hopefully their employees are better next time. Except my guy with the ponytail. He understands customer service!

Unique combination of colors used throughout the hotel, some may like it, some may not. I considered it looking pretty good! Very helpful and kind personnel. Super clean rooms, nice materials used around. I would stay again!

Stayed here recently and really love this hotel. I was originally drawn to the history and mid-century modern aesthetic and that didn't disappoint at all. But add to that great, very friendly staff, the perfect location, and the very large and lively rooftop bar and this just has a perfect combo of things for a trip to Durham (which we really enjoyed as well). There was a great breakfast in the lobby to order and we spent evenings (after dinner - also close by) hanging out on the side patio people watching as well as the top floor patio/bar. There is a lot to do in the immediate area. The rooms are comfortable and really well decorated. If you love mid century design you really need to stay here. Much more fun and unique stay than a typical hotel. There's a parking garage very close by if you don't want to valet. We didn't even need to use the car for our three day trip there was so much to do and see within walking distance.

The location is right in Downtown Durham but on a more quiet street right off main street with the action. The rooms were clean and nice and quiet even with a band on the rooftop. The modern 70s inspired decor is super cute. They give you drink vouchers and the bartenders are super friendly and make a mean coffee if you need it. Only con: closest parking is valet but it's worth the convenience.

February 2023: While I’ve never stayed at the Durham, I love coming here to hang out. The rooftop is always fun, and the lobby downstairs is a great meeting space or workspace. The drinks are also great in the downstairs lobby, and the employees are all friendly. I love the care Elijah gives, always a smile on his face and is pleasant to be around. June 2023 update: Finally had a chance to stay at this charming hotel and let me tell you it is worth it! Service is stellar, Eli took care of us once again and he is such a sweetheart. Our room was gorgeous and clean, every detail felt like we were truly being taken care of, not just staying at any hotel. Breakfast downstairs was delicious, service from Charity at the bar was unmatched. I just wish we had the time to go see the live jazz being played on the rooftop on the evening that we stayed there. Stay at the Durham, you won't be disappointed.

I haven't stayed at this hotel since 2018, but I honestly think about how much I love it almost on a monthly basis. I'm a commercial interior designer and an HSP (highly sensitive person) and this hotel delights all of my senses. It's beautifully designed with so much attention to details; the cushioned carpeting in the lobby and the rooms feels so good and makes the space cozy acoustically. I legit couldn't wait to wake up in the mornings when I stayed here because of the coffee that would be waiting for me at my door and the breakfast down in the lobby. I don't have a reason to come back to Durham at the moment, but I wouldn't probably consider it just to stay at this hotel again. Love you guys!

Manager was extremely nice and welcoming. For anniversary, husband and I had staycation. Location made it easy to walk to plenty of restaurants. We had breakfast at hotel; worth it. Will definitely return and recommend.

I recently stayed here for a conference and loved this hotel! The room was quiet and clean. But the staff were the real stars. Check in was so busy and Shiree was extremely patient and informative. And Mark, let me tell you about this gem, he got me some early morning coffee and some toiletries I left behind. He was incredibly helpful in my moments of need. Great experience overall!

Everything about this hotel is a step back in time, in the coolest way. You can easily imagine the mid century bankers happily doing their work here and it feels like a Mad Men era vibe. Bold, beautiful colors throughout, a spacious rooftop bar, and detailed rooms make this a great stay. In-room Cuisinart coffee maker… yes, please! The valet staff were all so efficient and kind in their work which made our stay even better!

Our corporate team did an offsite at The Durham Hotel. Pros: - Amazing staff, friendly and genuine people - Location, many great food and bar options nearby - Easy, Cheap valet parking ($20/night), the neighboring garage was more expensive - AWESOME coffee bar downstairs in the lobby - Corporate event space was perfect for our group of 15; food was delicious and we even were able to book lunch on the rooftop. Technology was easy to use, modern projector and setup - ONLY negative was the rooftop bar closes a little early and was booked for a corporate event one night, so if you are booking an event or the hotel wanting to get on the rooftop make sure it will be available. The staff was awesome and let us book our lunch on the rooftop as the space was not available our main evening Room was clean with a nice little mini bar. Beds were SUPER comfortable. Everyone on our team commented how the denim, weighted comforter made for a great night sleep. Only suggestion for the hotel is to put outlet plugs more accessible next to the beds.
