Excellent experience. Convenient location...love the park in front of the hotel. Exercise room and pool have a wonderful view. Lobby/bar area very comfortable...most importantly the entire staff was very friendly and helpful! Special shout out to Johnny, front desk, thank you for all the local recommendations! We had a great time exploring the city.

4/5 stars but could be 5 stars.
Very cool, funky fresh vibe. Fun aesthetic. Right in the middle and walkable to everywhere.
This is first time I've stayed at a Aloft hotel. I brought my two teenage kids with me. They love it. They love the vibe and aesthetic. Our dbl queen bed room is plenty big enough, it's nice. Not a lot to complain about.
The only thing that makes it lacking is, for me, that there is no speaker in the room and there's no Smart TV. I was really hoping on renting and watching movies in the room as we cozy up and binge on snacking and eating in. For as modern and progressive, as the hotel presents itself, I would assume this would have been a no-brainer. Because it does present itself as a "party in the city" kind of place. This is a huge miss for me. Also, not many hooks in the room or bathroom area to hang towels or whatever else. And the plugs to charge phones aren't really in areas where you'd like them to be.
Bar is big and nice and the downstairs lobby has games and a pool table and a fire place. Very cool.
They have a lot going on though. Would I recommend staying here- absolutely. It's a cool spot, for sure.
4 out of 5 for me.

This was one of my favorite hotel stays in a long time, and it certainly contributes to my interest in returning to Durham. The room was terrific: stylish and understated decor, high ceiling, plenty of desk space, well-designed bathroom (with door separating shower/toilet from sink area), and modern shower. The huge windows provided a sweeping view of the park and the historic brick factories. Most importantly, the hotel was immaculate.
Great location at the American Tobacco Campus (brick warehouses which are now a complex of restaurants and outdoor sitting spaces with a nice water feature running through it), and an easy walk to Main Street. Also, the morning coffee was very good.
I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Durham.

Had a wedding to attend to in the Durham Bulls Park ... hotel was within walking distance of the rehearsal dinner as well. So this was very convenient to say the least. We had hoped for a short cut into the park but the long way around was fine. The hotel is very neat and clean. Beware the sliding bathroom door ... it's heavy but moves easily - we all sent it sailing and slamming the first time. Rooms are spacious. One of the rooms our family had, had the beds on one side - a TV unit in the middle and seating near the window. Which was a nice set up. Pool and exercise areas were great, unfortunately with wedding events there was very little time for those things. People were nice. But we had no idea that all things close early in the local area, so we got to bed earlier than expected each night. Would definitely recommend staying here. All things very local are a bit pricier than going out of your way a little ... but that's the price of convenience in a touristy type area. We enjoyed everything we could in the short time we had, sad we didn't/couldn't plan to stay longer.

Decent hotel with nice staff. But if the trains at 6 am don't wake you, the following one at 6:30 am will make sure you can't sleep. Then add to that the industrial noise from trucks, garbage collection, etc. and you are guaranteed to wake daily long before you're ready. So, if getting an early start to your day is what matters, this location will make sure you're up.

The rooms were nice and the staff friendly. One day, my key card just wasn't working and I had to get it replaced. A couple of things to watch out for. They don't always replace the towels, so I didn't have a towel for the walkout shower one of the days, surprising since I leave a tip for the maid service. Also, the shower floor was very slippery and I could have cracked my head open. Very low water pressure in the shower. The bathroom sink however, got hot water right away. As far as the gym goes, it is useful, however they don't always have towels there and one day the thermostat battery was dead so the air conditioning in there wasn't working. It was like a sauna. Also, it seemed as if the bar was closed Saturday night, for some reason. At least they weren't open when they said they were going to be open. One last thing, unless the windows are open, I feel like there's not enough light in the room. So, plan to have the window shades wide open to get enough light.

Check in was quick and easy. For the most part the staff was very nice. I had an issue with not having any shampoo in my room because there were two shower gel. They corrected the issue quickly. My room did have a very strong bleach smell when I checked in. It was very unpleasant and stayed in the room the whole time I was there. My room was not very clean feeling. There were stains on the floor and the couch.

Loved the location. The staff were very friendly. The rooms were clean. The overall hotel was very clean. The bathroom design should be different. The toilet shouldn't be closed off with the shower. The bathroom is located next to the entry door but doesn't allow for privacy. There isn't a door at the space allowed for basin use or general dressing. I believe reducing some of the living space where the bed is located (1 king bed room) would allow for changing the bathroom design. Also, there wasn't any towel rods. We had to use clothes hangers for our wet face clothes and damp towels. There wasn't any king of soap dish or shower caddy inside the shower. You literally have to place your soap or shampoo bottles etc on the shower floor tub. They do however provide pump soap and shampoo attached in the shower. I always supply my own because of brand type that I like.
