I recently stayed at Aloft Durham Downtown connected to DPAC for a performance of MJ The Musical, and it was a fantastic experience. The hotel's convenience, being attached to the Durham Performing Arts Center, was a major plus. The cleanliness was commendable, and the small grocery shopping area offered a great selection for meals and snacks. The full bar, well-decorated lobby with billiards and games, added to the enjoyable atmosphere. The second-floor view and pool were highlights, making it a delightful stay. I would enthusiastically choose this hotel again in the future.

Great location for Durham. If going to the DPAC from out of town it is a must. Only issue we had was a lot of mold in the shower. We reported it to the front desk and they would get housekeeping on it.

I had a great time here. Eli was a very accommodating front desk agent. I loved the hotel décor and colors. My only grievance is design related. The shower had no storage space for soaps, or bottled shower products, and was without any hooks or racks. The fridge was on the floor, under the bathroom sink, next to the trashcan. Overall, I was comfortable and had a clean room.

Was a bit worried after reading a few recent reviews but we had a fabulous stay. No weird smells. Front desk staff were super friendly. Great location. Bed was comfy. Only complaint is no shelf in shower to hold my stuff. And if your noise sensitive there is a train that comes through frequently.

I'll say I came in with low expectations based on other reviews reporting an outdated property, etc. My experience was great. I found the room to be in fine condition, and the front desk staff was very polite. The bartender was wonderful as well. My only criticisms would be that the large "savvy" king room we had was not really that large, and had a lot of wasted/empty space. The layout could have been better thought out. Also, the front desk should do a better job at checkin of informing you about breakfast, the gym, parking, etc when you check in without having to ask.

Nice enough, bed was comfy. But figuring out the light switch situation was weird. And can high end hotels stop using those loud under window heat/ac units?

This hotel is definitely a little different, very funky vibe, the hallways are on the dark side and our room was nicely decorated, I really liked it! We had a large king room and it was almost twice the size of most hotel rooms that we've stayed in. They have a nice bar and a snack area, but like most hotels the snacks are ridiculously overpriced. My wife and I came to see a concert at DPAC and this is a perfect place to stay, we walked there in 30 seconds! The only downside is, if you're a light sleeper, the train runs very close by and it will wake you up several times, best to bring ear plugs. We will definitely book here again, all in all a very nice hotel.

Location is what matters most here. Right next to the American Tobacco Campus (ATC), Durham Bulls stadium, Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC), and plenty of eateries, this hotel is perfectly situated. There are better hotels in the area, but overall the Aloft meets the needs and expectations of most hotels.

Overall nice stay here. You can tell the place is needing a facelift as carpet, furniture, halls, elevators, bath hardware is showing it’s age. The room had a weird smell to it. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I’d definitely stay here again as the location is superb. But I’m not sure I’d pay the prices they are asking given the overall state of the place.

I love staying at The Aloft Durham when I am in town for a work trip at McKinney. They use DryBar shampoo and conditioner. The location is super easy to American Tobacco Campus, The Durham Bulls, loads of amazing restaurants!! and not that far from RDU. The only complaint is they need a variety of pillows because the ones I've had the last two stays were flat as heck. They have a small outdoor pool but it needs straining. Very good workout gym. Next to DPAC for Broadway tours!

This was my second Aloft property this week, the previous one being near the RDU airport...and that one got a poor rating. This property was much better - it might be newer but it has been maintained. The room was quiet - I didn't hear anyone next to me or anything from outside. It was clean and maintenance was okay. The shower was much better than the airport property - it had water pressure and hot water. I do think, like the airport property too, the choice of tile in the bathroom is not optimal - it just doesn't look clean. Shower floor was also slippery, like the airport hotel and like another reviewer noted - this seems like a potential liability for the property. The gym is a bit smaller than the one at the airport, but it would do for a short stay. The pool is also smaller, but it's got a much better view - it overlooks the greenery and Tobacco Road. Service was okay - nothing that felt like it was above and beyond. There are no signs for the pool or gym to indicate where they are located and I wasn't told where they were when I checked in - I had to come back and ask. A note on parking - they wanted me to park in the Aloft specific parking (3rd floor and above) during my SAT-SUN stay and it is $15 a night, which isn't terrible. I parked on the first floor because they only charge M-F from 8ish-5 - outside of those hours they don't charge. There's nothing in the 1st floor parking garage that says you can't park there while staying at Aloft, or that you can't stay overnight, or that it's reserved for another venue/business. When I checked in, they tried to tell me that it was reserved for another business - I kindly declined the Aloft parking pass. I'm sure they have to say something to that effect, but I'm not a fan of being forced to pay for something I don't need to pay for. Last couple bits of annoyance - WiFi and breakfast. The WiFi really should have some sort of sign on - password or room/name - leaving it open to anyone creates a virtual security issue for guests. Breakfast - as someone that is Titanium and Lifetime Platinum, how breakfast is not free confuses me and it feels a bit cheap. If I have to pay for breakfast, especially at a US property, I'm going to spend my money at a local bakery or coffee shop - it'll be cheaper and better quality. I would feel comfortable returning to this property in the future.

This is a hip looking hotel compared to your typical Marriott, with darker colored hallways, dimmer lighting, and a casual bar/restaurant area. The rooms are big and spacious with a large desk for doing work. The bathroom was awkward because the sink was on one side of a pocket door while the toilet and shower was on the other side. The shower floor was slippery and included wall mounted shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. The lighting in the room continues the more demure lighting, and the bed was comfortable, but the pillows were heavy and mushy. They don't support your head well. The room; however was super clean and it was relatively quiet minus the ball field announcer, fireworks, and occasional train.

Excellent experience. Convenient location...love the park in front of the hotel. Exercise room and pool have a wonderful view. Lobby/bar area very comfortable...most importantly the entire staff was very friendly and helpful! Special shout out to Johnny, front desk, thank you for all the local recommendations! We had a great time exploring the city.

Very accommodating friendly and professional staff. Located next to a group of bars and restaurants. Bull Durham Stadium was next door. Pet friendly, has with a city dog style park next door. Rooms were ok, barn door style on the bath room needed a stopper so it did not crash shut
