We came for an overnight trip to see the Bulls play! This hotel was perfect and close within walking distance to the stadium. Upon arrival we couldn't check in early at all, even though we were told they weren't busy at all. It was ok though. The room was incredibly clean and worth the wait!! Everything smelled fresh and the rooms were very nice!! We would definitely stay again and recommend. -
Really poor experience for a SpringHill. When we arrived, we were given 2 queen beds, despite having reserved a king suite. We were told our 3rd-party booking service (Citi Travel) had changed it and there was nothing they could do. I contacted Citi and they said that would have been impossible, and they would investigate. They called me back and said they had referred it to their claims dept for further investigation, but no, they did not change it. This was a special weekend for us, and the lack of a king suite kind of ruined it. We only stayed one night, but when we went down for breakfast, the coffee was empty, the eggs were empty, the sausage was empty and there were no utensils. The waffles were ok, but nothing special. There was one man working there, and when he finally refilled the coffee, it was lukewarm. He also never donned a pair of sanitary gloves, or washed his hands, as he transitioned from handling food to emptying the overflowing trash cans (we were paying close attention). McDonald's would have delivered a better breakfast. Oh, and the queen room, while clean, was very dark and you had to use your keycard to turn on lights, which promptly turned off after about 2-3 minutes. Lots of trash in the surrounding area, with homeless visible from our room. $15 to park overnight, plus $2+ in fees. About the only redeeming quality was that it was a short walk to watch the Duham Bulls lose to Nashville. Would Not recommend this location. -
First impressions are meaningful and I was impressed once I step foot in the door. This hotel smelled wonderful and inviting. I was greeted by Mia L who was extremely pleasant and welcoming. She took care of me and my party after driving 6 hours to Durham. She was very attentive. Next person I encountered was Joanna J who was also very pleasant. I was outside taking a phone call and she greeted me before even beginning her shift. I take notice of the small details due to my line of work and these two young ladies are excellent examples on how to take care of their customers. Thank you ladies. -
First, I would like to commend the staff for being courteous and professional throughout our stay. However, I have a serious concern regarding our reservation. We initially secured a confirmed booking at a lower rate. Due to inclement weather, we needed to extend our stay by an additional night. When this change was made, the rate for our original reservation was increased without any prior notification. Before adding the extra night, my wife specifically asked whether the rate would change and was assured that it would not. Despite this, the adjustment resulted in a higher charge. We have made several attempts to resolve this issue by contacting SpringHill Suites by Marriott Durham City View. Unfortunately, the experience has been disappointing. -
This experience left me very disappointed in how Marriott customers are treated at this location. I contacted the hotel multiple times regarding an issue with my room and requested to speak with the manager. On six separate occasions, I was told he was too busy and would call me back later. I was even given an unprofessional explanation that he was busy with a “side hustle.”
It has now been two weeks, and I still have not received a call back.
As a Platinum member who frequently stays with Marriott, I’ve always considered it my preferred hotel brand and have never experienced this level of poor service before. Unfortunately, this location falls far short of the standards I’ve come to expect.
I would strongly recommend avoiding this property if you value responsive and professional customer service. At the time of writing this review, I am still waiting for a callback. This experience left me very disappointed in how Marriott customers are treated at this location. Btw there are other Marriott in the area that have a far better location! Stay there instead.
