The reviews sounded promising so I visited to have a taste. The staff was nice and recommended a few pastries for me to try. I was very excited because everything looked delicious and I couldn't wait to eat them. Unfortunately, I didn't like any of the pastries. I took a bite of each and they tasted a bit stale and overly sweet. One of the pastries was supposed to be vanilla flavor but it smelt weird so I had to throw it out. I was very disappointed in the quality of the pastries and the freshness thereof. I hope they can make smaller batches in the future so that the pastries are fresh every time. I think this will be my first and last time.

What a wonderful experience working with Dani and her mother on a cake for my daughter's baby brunch celebration! It was my lucky day to find the Sunflower Bakery while trying to find a place to order a cake in the Raleigh/Durham area. Since I live in Virginia, I needed to go strictly by the reviews and my interaction with Dani and both were absolutely spot on! She and her mom did a fabulous job on our cake and it truly tasted as good as it looked. Everyone was amazed at the decorating and the 4 layer chocolate cake with dulce de leche filling waswas a perfect ending to the event. People were walking by our table at the restaurant, commenting that it was the most beautiful cake they had seen. If you haven't tried the Sunflower Bakery yet, you should do it soon...it is bound to become your favorite! Thanks again!

I am such a procrastinator and waited until the day before my daughter’s birthday to order a custom cake.
Thankfully, the staff at Sunflower Bakery understood and was able to save the day with a delicious strawberry/vanilla creation!
Their superb customer service was such a stress relief!

My hubby got me a last minute (day of) birthday cake and they were amazing!! I’m not a fan of dense cakes and the one he had made was amazingly light. Frosting too! The details were absolutely adorable and the custom topper such last minute was definitely a surprise. I will definitely be returning for any cake needs!

Danny was very helpful. Danny explained the pastries and cake very thoroughly. I bought dulce de leche and chocolate cake slices and a few cookies. All very delicious. I will be coming back!

Best bakery in durham!!! Great customer service, once you walk in you are greeted and helped with! The bakery itself is very aesthetically pleasing and welcoming , you are immediately invited to great treats and delicious coffee (offer both hot and cold). If you are craving something sweet definitely come by to the Sunflower bakery!

It was our first Sunflower bakery experience, and it was awesome!
The owner is very kind, fast responsive, super responsible, easy to understand, very generous and does absolutely amazingly tasty cakes ! The owner verified our pick up and had it ready in time!
We ordered 2 tier Chocolate and strawberry birthday cake with decorations and it was delicious!
It seems like a good balance between soft to eat and steady enough to transport cake!
We eat it for 4 days and it was still good. Price wasn’t cheap but not the most expensive one either.
One thing we know for next time is not to order fresh fruit filling because it is not fresh after one day, better jam filling instead or none.
