I cannot say enough amazing things about the team in Durham NC especially the grooming salon! From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming, professional, and genuinely caring.
I brought in my two husky puppies who were EXTREMELY dirty (and I mean full husky chaos mud dirty 😅). With a one hour notice same day first time appointment. I was desperate. Not only did the grooming team go above and beyond to get them completely clean, fluffy, and smelling incredible, but they handled them with so much patience and kindness the entire time.
What truly stood out to me was how thorough and communicative they were. They made me fully aware of everything they were doing, explained the condition of my pups’ coats, and gave helpful recommendations without any pressure. I felt completely supported and informed throughout the whole process.
When I picked my puppies up, they looked like brand new dogs soft, bright, and beautifully groomed. You can tell this team genuinely cares about the animals they work with.
If you have high-energy breeds like huskies or just want groomers who truly go the extra mile, I highly recommend Petco in Durham. They exceeded my expectations in every way without a single complaint! 🐾
Moving forward I will ALWAYS use this team and have decided to move forward using them for vetcare too! -

Each Petco is different. I give this a two star because despite the numerous complaints about Kelly, she is still employed and harassing customers therefore impacting the overall score for this review. A good example is no matter how good a restaurant is, if you have shitty staff the food is also shitty. I believe this location should value customer service and actually investigate on the employee Kelly for her behavior towards numerous customers. During my recent visit, she was flirting with a male customer for about 30 minutes and refusing to acknowledge another customer such as myself for assistance. The cashier next to her noted that the assistance I needed required a manager for help and Kelly did not respond until I was waiting right next to her. Kelly rolled her eyes. Scoffed. And continued flirting with my male friend while doubting my ability to care for my new pet. She also placed her lips all over my pet that I just bought giving it numerous kisses in front of the two of us, apparently she must not be trained in how diseases and bacteria could be spread from human saliva. I fear for my pet in the next 30 days as it is young and it might have been exposed to whatever diseases she might have. It was highly inappropriate to flirt with my friend but also kiss my pet with her full mouth of lipstick and saliva. If my pet dies I know who to blame. -
I went to buy a couple new goldfish for my son after his passed away after 3 years. The Manager Kellie came to help and was immediately aggressive and raising her voice at me. Said my 10 gallon tank wasn’t good enough for “her fish” and that she was refusing to sell me one. Needless to say I’ve bought all my other fish from this location, but won’t be going back for even the dog food I buy. I’m scared of her. She was so intense I literally thought she was going to hurt me. I left the store shaking with shock about how I spoken too.
Went back the next day to speak to a different manager. He and the product manager were very kind and professional. They apologized for how I was spoken to by Kellie. They did say that store’s policy is to not sell any goldfish for any tank less than 20 gallons. I thanked them for being calm and explaining things to me.
Went to a different Petco and got my fish with no issues. The sales person there did suggest 1 goldfish and 1 minnow, vs two goldfish. I took her advice and thanked her for the recommendation. -
I had a app. for my puppy Cocoa things were frustrating and busy but ARIEL the front desk vetco young lady made it ALL WORTH IT. She had PATIENCE, A SMILE, Dedication, even when she was given a hard time and even when I couldn’t sign up for my “Total care premium” like Petco always offers but when customers get there it never seems to work. She was kind enough to help.
Keep Ariel! She deserves a bonus or something
