Lucky Strike Tower
Overview
Standing as a nod to Durham’s past and a symbol of its present, the Lucky Strike Water Tower looks over the American Tobacco Campus. Once the home base for the company that produced a majority of the country's tobacco products, these buildings now house businesses and spaces for Durhamites to work, play, eat and drink. Through it all, the Lucky Strike Water Tower has marked a place where people congregate. Near the breezeway-covered area where Boricua Soul is, find the perfect photo opp with a Durham sign positioned perfectly for you to snap a pic to remember your trip with family and friends.

An old relic to the tobacco industry that made a Durham what it is. Now all Tobacco row has been transformed apartments, restaurants, and shops. Very nice area with an open area. Looks like the base of the tower can be made into stage for live music. The tower is pretty cool and marks the area as a landmark. Well worth checking out if you're in the area visiting or catching a Bulls game across the street. -
Very cool area. A few restaurants and a few different spots to check out. It's cool that they used this old factory area and turned it into green space with activities. -
I have never wanted a cigarette more than when looking at this water tower in the late evening.
When you’re in Durham, it’s important to know the heritage of why this space thrived and the roots that came with it. Tobacco is a real embedded element to this city and it brings a lot of charm and one can only imagine pain, from these massive companies profiting on addiction.
While you’re nearby, I highly recommend going to Press for Brunch. Their waffles, coffee and crepes are standout! -
I just wrote my review. I'm not sure why Google is asking me to do it again. But anyway, this is an amazing place to visit. The scenery downtown is awesome these days. You've got to visit if you have it done so in a while. Bring a camera. -
Pretty cool area that's fun to walk through. The towers are cool and there's a stream going through all the businesses where you can walk as well as plenty of chairs, green space, and hammocks.
