Tucked away spot with super friendly service and top-tier savory and sweet pastries. They also do cakes, cupcakes and macaroons to order. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I'm sure they're excellent after the variety of what I've tasted so far.
Definitely among the best in the Triangle but with their own unique twist 👌 -
This place is awesome ! Went today cause the other place I go to was too busy and ended up here. So glad that I did !!!
I got the shakahuka danish and the pecan bite brownie. First bite of that shakahuka danish and I was in love. It was everything you want : flaky , creamy , tons of umami. I immediately got up and ordered 2 more of them to go cause I knew my husband would like it and I would want another one later !
The pecan brownie was heaven. It’s dense and fudgy like a brownie should be. Sweet and chocolatey. I also got the cardamom vanilla latte and it was nice not too sweet. Perfect for the rainy day. I love no where near here but I will def make the trip out to come again just for that danish !!
The staff was also super helpful and friendly. Very accommodating to me and my toddler which I appreciate. 100 stars will be back!! -
La Recette Patisserie is a delightful little mom and pop pastry shop featuring really tasty French pastries with an African twist. Colorful, complex, masterfully constructed and interesting, perfectly balanced flavors help La Recette stand out among triangle favorites like Guglhupf . I had an orange blossom pastry that was better than it looked, and it looked delicious. Golden brown pastry, caramelized candied orange on curd. I didn't expect the mastery of this flaky, crispy buttery pastry that was still moist and full bodied on the inside. These pastries aren't overly or underly sweet. Their texture and taste are full of suprises. Hiden candied lemon in a cloud of cream over a thin and crunchy, perfectly cooked tartlet filled with a pleasantly sour lemon filling. If La Recette used ingredients like OWL Bakery or Bolted Bread it could certainly rival them. The owner and pastry chef is incredibly skilled, not just with pastry technique but with flavor. The price was less than I expected and I would have happily paid more. For a pastry in Durham this is my new go to. -
This place had some of the best pastries I've ever had in my life. Cannot recommend enough! I got the pistachio bar and a couple of other things, and they were all delicious... Phone did not eat first!!! -
What a delicious hidden gem. Lots of wonderful choices of cakes, croissants and artisanal pastries. There is also a seating area to enjoy your purchases. Will definitely be back and highly recommend you give it a try.
