I’ve never dined in so I can’t vouch for the service or atmosphere, but I can definitely vouch for the FOOD. I’ve ordered delivery from here 3-4 times now and it is consistently delicious and filling.
The portions are huge, the chicken is always well-seasoned, and the grits are perfectly buttered.
This has quickly become my favorite breakfast spot in Durham. 10/10 - Highly recommend!!

I had my first ever chicken and waffle at their Greensboro location in 2016 and it was one of the best meals of my life at the time. I was looking forward to having a local location when I moved years later, but so far, I have had three disappointing experiences and one good one. Service was incredibly slow the first time but has been better since, but now the chicken cutlet is likely thin and tough or overcooked and the waffle flat and limp. The grits are solid but a side. I would love to support black-owned, but I cannot take guests here knowing the food is unreliable.

I'd already bitten into my chicken before I realized I needed to leave a review. The person who provided service to our table was very attentive, kind, and accommodating. I wish I'd asked for his name.
I asked for his recommendations and he did not disappoint!
I had the Red Crested Rosecomb. I added on a whiskey drizzle and swapped out the strawberry shmear for the peach-apricot shmear. I also had a mimosa and a side of collard greens.
I enjoyed every bite, but that chicken was something else in the best way. I hope I can make it back here.

Food was good... First time eating here. Chicken cutlet was pretty large and took half home. Waffle was good too although it could have been a little hotter (it was warm and did not melt butter). Sweet tea was good and sweet nectar.

Everything was delicious! We were given samples of the sides before ordering. The collard greens were delicious and had a little kick to them. The squash and onions were to die for as well. But, the chicken...oh man...it stole the show! Huge wings that were seasoned to perfection!

My son and I enjoyed it thoroughly , had opportunity to catch up with Mr. Dame while we were there… it’s nothing like the chicken and waffles and the options of different smears to choose from (special edition to the downtown Durham skyline) - congratulations DAME You’re killing it.

Yummy to my tummy! We were at Dames Saturday November 30, 2024 before our show at DPAC (Hadestown) I had the chicken cutlet & waffle along with some good ole mac&cheese. Our server Cheyenne was awesome too!

Out of towner review!
Some of the best chicken I’ve had in awhile. Everything was great. The Mac and cheese and greens were top tier. Customer service was great too. This was my first time and I’m not sure if it was the manager ? But he was helpful in making sure I knew about the menu. I come to Durham about once a month and I’m mad nobody has told me about this spot. I’ll definitely be back everytime I’m in the city!

I went the simple route with just a waffle, scrambled eggs, and bacon. They were all good. The rest of our group had chicken and waffles and said that the chicken was delicious. Server was awesome.
