I’ve been coming to Skrimp Shack Durham for a while now, and I have to say, the place has really hit its stride lately.
Ordered my usual favorites this time: the spicy shrimp basket, Big Cat sandwich, scallops, and of course the banana pudding. Everything was on point. The shrimp had just the right heat, the Big Cat was stacked and flavorful, the scallops were perfectly cooked, and that banana pudding never misses. You can also feel a different vibe in the restaurant these days, smoother operations, friendlier energy, and just an all-around better experience. It’s clear the leadership is making a difference. Omar, the GM, has brought a fresh, positive presence that shows in how the team runs the place and how customers are treated. This spot has always had great food, but right now it feels better than ever. Definitely one of my go-to places in Durham. 👍🍤

I was in Durham for work and chose Skrimp Shack on a whim based off the good reviews, and I’ll now be a regular every time I’m in town! The staff was super polite and kind, the environment was very clean, and the food was AMAZING!!! I came in on a cold day wanting soup and ended up getting the combo of soup + sandwich. It was a huge portion and tasted so fresh. I can’t wait to come back

The catfish was the best I’ve ever had! Hot and fresh and so flavorful. This my first visit, but you better believe I will be coming back soon to check out the other mouth watering selections I saw on the menu. Prices and portions are great too!

I placed my order on my way over. My food was ready when I walked in. Another customer was talking about the crab cakes and how much she liked them. I then placed another order for crab cakes also. They came out in a few minutes and I enjoyed them. Another great experience at the Durham Shrimp Shack location.

Everything was tasty except the collard greens. There was no meat in them and they tasted very acidic and gritty. I would not buy the greens again. The rest of our meals which included fried shrimp, fried whiting, hush puppies, french fries and cornbread were all delicious. The portion sizes are great price wise. Customer service could've been a little better but overall I would definitely return again.

Absolutely delightful and delicious. Our first night in Durham we were extremely indecisive. We looked up different seafood restaurants and the reviews were not the best. So, we made the best choice, Skrimp Shack.
Everything was delicious and fried to perfection, from the shrimp, fish, fries, and hushpuppies. Everything was seasoned well. The young man who was the owners son, was very attentive and professional.

Fries and okra lacked seasoning to my taste, the atmosphere was amazing there was nice music playing and the cashiers /front house workers were amazing i will definitely come back and give them another try. I’ll maybe order something different

Hands down one of the best seafood experiences I’ve had. The staff at this location really made us feel welcome. They were attentive and happily assisted us with navigating the menu. Even the gentleman cooking in the back greeted us with a smile. The Food was AMAZING! We had previously eaten at another location and this experience far surpassed any expectations we had from the previous experience. Jasmine and Cliff are definitely an asset to the franchise and the heart of this location. From the excellent staff, to the wonderful food, and even the cleanliness of the dining room, this is definitely the best Skrimp Shack around.

We ordered the family bundle. It was more than enough for our large family with plenty leftover. There was something for everyone, because trust me it is hard finding dinner to cover the adults and little picky eaters in our house. The food was made to order. The customer service was outstanding. Did I mention everything was tasty and flavorful? We will definitely be back!

1st time coming to this place and hope it's not my last! Was visiting a relative at Duke regional and this place was right up the street. Lunch portions and dinner portions were available when I went, around 7pm. You order and pay at a kiosk, and then the food is brought to your table if you're dining in. Fish was fried perfectly and tasty! The owner was super friendly and made us feel welcome. Next time I want to try the shrimp or should I say, skrimp! Haha. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!

Listen! Y'all better get you some of this food! Jasmine P. and Michael took such good care of us and the food was delicious! If you aren't sure what to get, just ask and they will talk you through all your options. Personally, the catfish nuggets were some of the most perfectly cooked fish I have ever had. Will definitely be back!

Incredible food. I got a STACKED! Fish sandwich for less than 10$. 14$ if you make it a combo . Great food at a reasonable price. Good atmosphere. The girl working the register was amazing.

This was our first time here. First of many more to come! Absolutely love the food! We had the fish sandwich. That thing is Hugh! Absolutely fantastic! Fresh as if you were at the beach and just caught the fish. Comes with some of the best fries around! Can't say enough either about the wonderful service! The lady who helped us is so wonderful and nice! Love her personality! Really great vibe and atmosphere! We highly recommend and will most definitely be back!! Thank you for such a great experience!!

A Wonderful place to get seafood and soul food if you’re in the Durham area! Good amount of food for a reasonable price! Great atmosphere and friendly crew! Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves them some good home cooked soulfood!

OMG!! Amazing experience. I was totally blown away. The food was amazing. The owner and general manager both came over to ask about our experience. I was very impressed with the service, the attention and the friendliness of the staff)
It was busy but brisk. To my surprise even though the service was quick, my food was piping hot!! The portions as you can see were huge. (my coworkers ate shrimp, hushpuppies and fries before I could get pics of their food/portions were larger than they appear here😂😂)
My coworker, Anthony discovered this place and his eatery choices are little suspect (lol). But he nailed this one!!
I ordered the flounder sandwich and hushpuppies. It was fresh, tender and well seasoned. Often restaurants rush and either over or undercook flounder(which can be horrible if overcooked)
I am going back to get the catfish sandwich or the shrimp(skrimp)!!
I tried my coworker's food and the fried okra was amazing. My coworker told me to ask for the honey butter for my hushpuppies. WE HAVE A WINNER!! They were hot so the butter just melted and the puppies melted in my mouth
I give 5+++ stars.
If you love seafood, the Shrimp Shack is a Must!! I highly recommend them

Amazing atmosphere! Delicious food! The general manager, shift lead, and all of the employees were super nice and welcoming! They made us feel like family!! 10/10 definitely recommend and will dine again when we visit Durham again!

My favorite seafood joint in Durham- and really one of the best seafood joints in NC period, in my opinion. The spicy fried catfish (big cat) strips are soooo good and collards aren’t too salty, and there a lot of choices including grilled options. Looking forward to trying their cornbread and okra too.

I tried the shrimp and crab po-boy with Mac & cheese and it knocked my socks off.
Flavor and portions were both off the charts.
10/10 - Highly recommended
