I enjoyed the challenge of the classes but most importantly the encouragement & personality from the instructors. I loved my experience. If it weren’t for my schedule, I’d continue classes here. -
I started coming to Pure Barre a year ago. I can honestly say that it has helped me become stronger. I enjoy the low-impact exercise. I enjoy the Define format the most. I appreciate how the instructors offer personal tips on technique to help you get the most out of your workout. -
In the past, I had a negative experience taking a barre class where I did not feel welcomed or capable because of my body type and limited skills. That has not at all been the case with Pure Barre (Durham and Chapel Hill studios)! I love being around all skill levels and body types. The workouts are rigorous yet fun, approachable, and diverse. If you stick with it, you WILL get stronger. Pure Barre has helped me to feel more confident in my body and has relieved my chronic back pain! -
had my membership frozen due to an injury and was faithfully paying my freeze fee. When my debit card changed, the freeze fee payment bounced — something that happens and is easily resolved. Instead of handling it gracefully, I was immediately contacted by corporate demanding payment of a $20 late fee.
I called to sort things out and potentially continue my freeze while recovering, but the customer service experience was so frustrating and difficult that I ended up canceling altogether. They make the cancellation process deliberately annoying, and the reps were rude and unhelpful throughout.
Honestly, I probably would have come back once I recovered from my injury and kept paying the freeze fee in the meantime. That’s no longer happening. If you’re considering a membership, just know that the moment you hit any bump in the road, this gym will make your life harder instead of easier. Not worth it. -
I almost never write reviews mainly because I'm too lazy, but I felt the need to share my experience to hopefully better this studio. As a first time guest at Pure Barre Durham, I was hoping to be welcomed in, and given an introduction to the studio and instructors. I got a simple "hi" as I checked in, and the instructor didn't even take the time to introduce herself. None of the members said hi, and everyone kept to themselves before and after the class. As an active person with many experiences taking fitness classes, I've never felt so unseen and unwelcome. I am hoping this was just a one time experience as I love barre classes and trying out new studios.
