I went to Panera Bread around 10:00 AM. The staff let me know that soup service starts at 10:30, so while waiting, I ordered hot tea and sat outside. The weather was nice, and it was a pleasant spot to relax. Parking was easy and convenient.
At 10:30, I ordered the broccoli cheddar soup. It wasn’t quite as good as it usually is, but it was fine overall. The customer service stood out—they were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself was clean and well-maintained, which made the experience better.
Overall, it was a good visit with excellent service, even though the soup wasn’t at its best this time. -
I've been happy with the various meals I've ordered. The Green Goddess Salad is a particular favorite. It is a substantial salad that does not stint on ingredients. The staff is hardworking and nice. Special shout out to Ms. Nancy, who is always super helpful no matter how busy she is.

Held off on writing this review because I love Panera, but this location is terrible. I’ve tried the 9th St location 3 times over the past month, and never had a good experience. Would suggest going to any other location in Durham. Each time I’ve had a pickup order placed in the app. It’s like they have contests on who can make food the sloppiest. The sandwiches have all the ingredients outside the bread. The tomatoes are hardly ever ripe. The soups are spilled all over the rest of the bag’s contents. The salads are brown and stale. Tired of opening the wrapper of a tuna sandwich, and the tuna and incorrect toppings are slathered all over the paper. 2 out of 3 times the order was completely wrong. As soon as they offer promotions, it appears they immediately mark them as sold out.

For some reason, whenever I get takeout from this location, they give it to me on a dine-in plate instead and I'm forced to have to ask for a bag. They also got my order completely wrong today. To their credit, they were very gracious about refunding me after the mistake.
Also, they refuse to respect the name I give them at the register. I often go by "AL" in part because my given name is hard to spell / pronounce. Today the cashier asked my name, I said Al. They suggested using "Allie" instead. I said "A.L." The cashier laughed in my face. This is the second time the staff at this Panera have tried to use a feminine form of my name, even when I spell it out for them. -
Friendly and helpful Staff, good food as far as the chain goes. Wait times are fine.
