Great location for the music event I attended on Duke campus the night I stayed here. Price point is good, and the room was clean and private. But the room had a super-loud heater--I needed earplugs to sleep--and several items in the room and bathroom were in disrepair. They need to do better general maintenance. Also, the body wash dispenser in the shower was empty. -
I had a wonderful experience at Millennium Hotel Durham. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional and the entire staff made me feel right at home. The room was spotless, very comfortable, and beautifully maintained.
I want to congratulate the hotel for having such an amazing team, because their kindness, professionalism, and warmth truly make a difference. Every detail was perfect, and my stay exceeded all my expectations.
I would definitely come back and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean place with outstanding service. Thank you for making my stay such a special experience! -
This hotel was affordable for my three night stay. No sore feelings were made but the experience was hilariously bad.
The front desk team did not answer any phone calls or emails (still waiting on their response about the hotel’s shuttle service). While the hotel’s cleanliness was considerably neat, the provided room was not well maintained (i.e. bathroom door was broken and could not be closed, shower was moldy, surfaces had dead bugs, pet hair from previous guests coated the bed, etc). The hotel had a mandatory utilities fee for guests to access the gym and pool. Interestingly, the small gym also was not well maintained as the bike was also broken and there was no sanitizing wipes/spray for equipment despite signage asking for cleaning. The pool area was trashed and clumps of hair were floating in the hot tub. Cockroaches were also present. While waiting for my ride after checking out, the employees were bad mouthing the manager incompetence. If you are looking for a solid giggle and story to tell your friends, this is the place for you. -
We stayed at the Millennium Hotel Durham from Friday–Sunday this past weekend with a large group traveling together. While the location near downtown Durham, Duke’s campus, and nearby parks was convenient and walkable, our overall experience at the hotel was extremely disappointing and, at times, concerning.
The hotel appears as though it was once well managed, but unfortunately it now feels neglected and poorly maintained. For example the flag polls in the front entrance are completely faded and ripped. It is a disgrace to wave a tattered American flag waving out front. Multiple rooms in our group had strange odors and weak or poorly functioning AC. Curtains had visible rips and stains, there was trash underneath beds, hair left in bathtubs, and sections of bathroom baseboards were missing. The hall carpets were heavily stained with bleach spots throughout, which created an overall unclean and unsettling appearance. We also saw a German cockroach while eating breakfast in the El Gusto cafeteria in the morning. I will say overall quiet hours seemed to be observed and we did not have any trouble sleeping.
The most concerning element was that one member of our group experienced bedbugs after the first night. Her husband left with more than 20 bites on his legs after sleeping in the room. This alone is a serious issue that should be addressed immediately. The staff did not seem surprised by this and made no offer to discount the room. They did switch them to a new room immediately.
The pool area was also clearly neglected and in need of deep cleaning. The hot tub had an “out of service” sign posted, but when we asked the front desk, staff said it was actually operational, which added to the confusion and inconsistency.
Beyond the cleanliness and maintenance issues, safety was a major concern for our group, especially since several families were traveling with young children. Numerous exterior access points were unlocked and accessible without a room key, including stairwells and the side entrance near the cafeteria. We also observed sketchy individuals repeatedly entering and leaving the hotel without acknowledgment from staff, which made the environment feel unsafe and poorly monitored.
We chose this hotel because it could accommodate a large group in a convenient location, and while the walkability was a positive, the condition of the property and lack of security made the overall stay negative and honestly unsettling. We hope management takes these concerns seriously and invests in improving the cleanliness, maintenance, and security of the property. -
It's a week ago today that we stayed. I left the room early and never got back before my daughter left so after years of trying to find a good hotel quality pillow I left my pillow at the hotel. I've called and called and called. One girl is very kind and answers the phone. The other one won't answer at all. If she would have answered and somebody would have just walked down there and got my pillow, I could have turned around and picked it up at the front desk but no, it's a week now and I finally found out that the cleaning ladies have not reported it.
In all fairness I tried to get them to compensate me because it'll take $170 to replace that pillow and pillowcase with a room because we'll have to be going back next month reasoning that this review will hurt them worse than the loss of the income of one room for a night but they denied that offer.
The refrigerator was very loud as well as the heating unit and we couldn't figure out how to shut off the fan and a neighboring heating unit was admitting a high-pitched noise all night long.
There was blood on the floor. Other than that our checking in girl was very nice and kind and the room was nice.
Mr owner if you wanted to take measures to correct the situation I would be glad to edit my review.
Oh and $20 was added to the bill when we got there because we booked through Super.com
