We believe that food is medicine, and everything we prepare is designed to nourish your body and delight your senses. We had previously been frequent guests at the Sage Cafe in Chapel Hill. It had closed, unexpectedly, about 2 years ago. We found this new iteration in Durham by accident and we were pleased that we found it! Also, this facility is located where the Pure Vegan Cafe used to be in Durham.
They have changed the menu slightly. They still have some of our previous favorites, such as osh, a traditional soup. We ordered the lasagna, grilled tofu and kabobs, gnocchi arabiatta, samosas, and the chocolate cake for dessert. The kabobs were delicious and it was nice to have osh again.
This new space is significantly bigger than the one they had in Chapel Hill. And, just as in Chapel Hill, you can sit outside, which is what we did.
This service could have been better. Despite repeatedly requesting an item on the menu, our waitress managed to bring the wrong item. Prices are not inexpensive, this is typical for a vegetarian restaurant.
It was very pleasant to see a good restaurant open up again after a hiatus. -
The Welcoming greeting from Laxmi, the calm and professional atmosphere and the absolutely AMAZING FOOD has me want to give Sage a 10 out of 5 star review. I’ve already returned many times and I'll be back…. As a vegan this gorgeous restaurant is a true godsend and everyone, whatever your usual preferences should try the exquisite flavors and textures and this food. Something to satisfy everyone. I've enJOYed everything from the ostentatious Osh soup to the sweet & sour fulsome Fessen Joon to the wholesome Hummus Falafel Wrap. THANK YOU

Finding a GOOD vegetarian restaurant with wholesome food, quality ingredients, and genuinely kind ownership feels like finding a unicorn in a city filled with restaurants on every corner 😊 Enter Sage Vegetarian Restaurant.
Not only is the food absolutely AMAZING, it is clearly made with love, care, and kindness. I recently used them for a large catering order, and they completely exceeded expectations from start to finish. Every meal (20+) was beautifully packaged, organized, and ready to go when I arrived — which, when coordinating an event, feels like winning the lottery.
And let’s talk about the organic, vegan, GLUTEN FREE banana cake with blueberries…pure magic. It melted in everyone’s mouths and hearts. People were still talking about it long after lunch ended 💙
Laksmi was an absolute joy to work with — warm, thoughtful, accommodating, and the kind of person you instantly want to support. Wonderful food made by wonderful people. We will absolutely be back!

Upon arrival I didn’t know what to expect. But I received excellent customer service and kindness. The best tofu wrap and salad I ever had with that homemade dressing 🤗 It like a Persian(Iranian), Middle Eastern Indian-inspired vegan restaurant and I promise you’ll love it as much as I did. Coming back 🙏🏽

SAGE is a very nice vegetarian restaurant. We had samosas, TOFU AND VEGETABLE KABAB and SOYA CHICKEN IN CHEF’S SPECIALTY
COCONUT CURRY SAUCE. The food is excellent!
Vegan chocolate cake with a hint of banana was delicious.
Definitely recommended place for vegetarians.
