The menu transcends ordinary coffee shop bites, offering entrees like a cornmeal waffle with brûléed seasonal fruit, crispy pancetta and whipped mascarpone cream; Reuben and BLT sandwiches on Union Special bread, and homemade pastries, such as seasonal scones. There are also seasonal drinks like lattes and lemonades and, of course, tea and coffee from local roasting partner, Jubala. Fare & Fellow Café will be opening up a second location in the NC Mutual Building downtown at 411 W. Chapel Hill St.

Having been meaning to go to this place for a while, I was left fairly disappointed. Tucked away in an office park, the vibes are great, with many people working from the tables. Unfortunately, the food and drinks did not match up to the atmosphere.
The cortado was completely runny, with no hint of texture to the milk at all. The sandwiches we ordered came on what was claimed to be ciabatta, but can only be described as cheap, soft grocery store sandwich rolls. A far cry from the Union Special bread some of their other sandwiches apparently come on. They did also accidentally give us the wrong side for one of the orders, which is not a huge deal, but somehow truly fits the narrative. The whole place had the vibe of a decent to good coffee place that was recently converted to a chain restaurant.
If you work next door, by all means, pick up a sandwich for a quick lunch. It'll be fine. For everyone else, there are far too many great options in the area to suffer such mediocrity.

Bright and airy, it's tucked into an office complex. The coffee was good. I got the butter and biscuits. The biscuits were a bit cold. Because of that and because the butter was hard, almost impossible to spread. Tasted good, though. Not sure, I will return.

The everything bagel pork roll is amazing, and so is the chai latte.
Espresso could use a little love, though, but everything else was stellar. But BE CAREFUL of this cafe's weird hours!!

Great coffee in a nice relaxing atmosphere. I really liked that even at the tables outside they brought us coffee in clay and glass cups, not in plastic or paper disposable cups.
Avocado toast was beautifully decorated and tasted great.

The staff were pleasant and helpful.
The food was delicious and well presented, so much so that I failed to take a pic before eating!
Their soba noodle salad was amazingly tangy and meaty (for not containing any meat). It was refreshing and filling as well.
Lastly, the cold brew coffee I had was one of the best I've ever had- it was deep, yet light and refreshing; it tasted of molasses and had a pleasant rich to acidic balance.
The atmosphere was a bit stifled by the combination of concrete/urban decor and the otherwise silent, business focused patrons.
Would gladly come back again for the drinks and food alone though! ☺️

Fortunately, I found this place with different options and early opening hours. I arrived at 8:00 a.m., there were no people, my food was ready very quickly, and everything was delicious. I recommend the burrito, the turkey and Brie sandwich, the mango smoothie, and the chai latte. Everything was great!

Super friendly staff! The peach tea was delicious and the avocado toast was so tasty. The berry chia parfait wasn’t my fave, but I’d get it again for a quick breakfast. The atmosphere is great for working or reading because it is quiet and spacious. They also have some tables outdoors. Would come again!

To start, I love the atmosphere of Fare&Fellow and I would definitely come back. It also seems like a great cafe to get some work done in. The flat white with oat milk that I got was excellent! Would highly recommend. Regarding the food, I feel the prices are a bit steep. I know the ingredients are locally sourced and I’m definitely willing to pay more for that, but unfortunately the green smoothie bowl was a big miss for me. All I could taste was ginger, to the point where I actually couldn’t finish the bowl. I imagine if the ginger was left out, the bowl would be delicious. Other reviewers have suggested that the breakfast sandwich is excellent, so I will plan to try that next time.
