Durham Food Hall
Durham's first food hall concept has a range of vendors that any palate will appreciate. The casual, modern space has a centralized bar area surrounded by foodie favorites like Locals Seafood bringing in fresh fish from the coast and Ex-Voto with their handcrafted take on crunchwraps and burritos. The Durham Food Hall, specifically Everything Bagels and Liturgy Beverage for a caffeine fix, is an obvious choice for those exploring the Durham Farmers' Market on a lovely Saturday morning, but also is hopping all times and days of the week. Check their event schedule for monthly and quarterly programming. Durham Food Hall is open all day for dining, drinks, celebrations, meetings, a quiet place to work or a quick bite on the go. It also has three private event spaces and a large public area to accommodate groups of all sizes.

I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and really enjoyed the variety at Durham Food Hall. There were multiple spots I would happily order from on a return visit—Mexican, Asian, burgers, seafood, a full bar, ice cream, coffee, and more. It’s the kind of place where everyone in a group can find something they like.
My wife is gluten‑free, and Local Seafood was a standout for her. They use a dedicated fryer, so she was able to enjoy fried Calabash‑style seafood and fries—something she rarely gets to have. Her food was flavorful, and her order was ready in about 10 minutes. I went with Corner Yaki and had the Karaage Bowl, which was a really good chicken-and-rice dish.
The atmosphere was lively but not overwhelming. It was busy at lunchtime, but lines moved quickly. Finding seating took a little effort, and because it’s one big open room, it can get loud with very little to absorb sound.
Where I think there’s room for improvement is in the facilities and general upkeep. There are only four single restrooms, and one is staff‑only, so there was a line every time I walked by. For a place made up entirely of food vendors, larger restroom facilities would make a big difference.
Cleanliness and stocking also seemed to lag behind the crowd level. Staff were actively cleaning, but the drink stations were out of utensils, had napkins on the counters and floor, and could have used a wipe‑down. The trash area stayed messy throughout my visit. Tables were bussed quickly, but the common areas felt like they needed more frequent attention.
Overall, the food and atmosphere were very good, and I’d return for those alone. With expanded restroom capacity and a more efficient approach to keeping shared spaces clean and stocked, it would be an even better experience. -
I went here as part of a group seeking lunch. I liked that there were multiple restaurants to pick from, that you could order ahead in addition to making an order at the counter. Service was quick at where I ate. My food was ok, but not something I would return to have again. The noise level was too much and the seating was not very comfortable. I did appreciate that they had a dedicated water and ice machine. It's really hard to get free water at a restaurant sometimes. Overall, the concept is not my thing at all - but apparently many do like being there as it was quite busy. -
I love the Durham Food Hall! I have been coming here since it opened and consistently have been pleased with the customer service and atmosphere. The staff is always friendly...kudos to Clayton (since day 1) forever has a smile, Nia, Asher..all the bartenders are on point! I hope they bring trivia back! -
Great ehrbic culinary experience with warm lively atmosphere. Perfect spot to meet friends or colleagues for a quick lunch in a trendy venue. Lots of options. Free parking in deck next door. -
We ordered April flowers, May showers, and two other drinks we can’t remember the names of. The bartenders are great, fast and efficient!
