Originally built as Durham’s National Guard unit headquarters, this building also served as the original Civic Center from the late 1950s to 1989.

Fun fact about The Armory – it's the site of a gathering that the artist Ernie Barnes, who grew up in Durham, secretly spied on before he was of age to attend. This scene inspired the famous "The Sugar Shack" painting from 1976.

If you plan to visit, make sure to arrange your parking ahead of time. Fortunately, there’s a parking garage across the street that’s quite affordable, only $7 for all day on Sundays. Aside from that, the space itself is absolutely amazing. I had the opportunity to attend the Toro Cup event, and I was blown away by how beautiful the venue is. There’s seating both upstairs and downstairs, providing impeccable views of the action. The large rooms upstairs were perfect for competitors to warm up and get everything organized before their matches. The event ran smoothly, thanks to the knowledgeable staff who really know how to keep things moving along beautifully. If you’re searching for a venue, this one is definitely worth considering. And if you’re looking for a good time, don’t miss out on attending one of the Tori Cup events hosted here!

This morning I attended my granddaughter's 5th-grade graduation here. The facility was nice and cool and accommodated all attendees.

Super small space, no parking. We went here for the Geek and Grub and we only stayed for about 15 minutes max because it was so underwhelming. The parking situation is also very frustrating

AC was out when we got there to set up. Aside from that, it was beautiful

Great for events, plenty of parking, and an accessible unloading area directly at the entrance.
