Have been to California Pizza kitchen multiple times. I noticed food quality keeps going down. Our initial visits were amazing and got really good pizza. Our latest dinner was meh. Hot bread and olive oil was probably the best part. Chicken in the dumplings tasted like frozen dumplings reheated and served. Pizzas were overcooked and they were hard as cardboard. Staff were very courteous. I don’t think we will be going back to this restaurant or this chain again. Not worth the time and money. -
My wife loves this place. She has been coming here for many years. Not my favorite place, but they do have some of the best keylime pie that is never frozen, and I think they get it flown in fresh from Key West, FL. The butter cake is really good, too. I had the sedona tortilla soup. I totally did not like it. I also had the 7" mushroom, pepperoni, and sausage pizza. I totally did not like that either. Not enough sauce and cheese, in my opinion, the sauce needed more flavor, like basil, oregano, and garlic. And not enough cheese, oh I said that already. The warm bread is always good with oil and herbs or just butter. My wife had a bahn mi power bowl salad that she liked and szechuan chicken dumplings. They were just ok. She also had spicy buffalo cauliflower. It was MEH! What happened to the hummus and pita bread? Our waitress, I think her name was Sierra, was great. -
Ate here for a late lunch with my husband. Service was good, fast and friendly. The dynamite shrimp appetizer is one of our favorite dishes. We both had the pizza and soup lunch combination. Pizzas had great flavors. The tortilla soup was okay, but not our favorite. CPK is a sentimental restaurant for us, and we’ve never had a disappointing meal here. -
California Pizza Kitchen is like a coin toss. I’ve gone three times and ordered pizza every time. The potential I knew they had shined through the final time I went. You have to be really specific with the way you want your pizza.
Food:
The BBQ Chicken Pizza was everything I wanted, in a spur of the moment decision. The crust was fluffy yet crunchy, and the consistency of the pizza itself was great. The flavor was good, but I forgot to ask for ranch; rookie mistake. The cucumber sparkling water was subpar to its strawberry counterpart. I recommend the ladder if possible. They were out of it that day, unfortunately.
Customer service:
What they really have going for them is the exceptional customer service! Servers have always been kind and courteous. They provided for our needs in a quick and timely manner.
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere is very close knit, and the windows should be closed when the sun is setting. The booth seats are not really comfortable, so grab some chair seating if possible.
Final Thoughts:
One of my family members was not satisfied with a meal and they kindly offered a way to amend that. If you want to try this place I recommend the meal I ordered. You may like it, you may not. That’s the risk with trying a new restaurant. Taster discretion is advised, ha. Final review 3/5 overall. -
This is our go-to place for pizza whenever we visit Southpoint. The quality of food and service is top-notch. Last evening, Darice attended to us, providing very prompt service. The food was excellent as usual. We ordered the Spicy Chipotle Chicken Pizza and Creamy Tomato Bisque Soup. Darice was kind enough to allow us to sample their butter cake, which was super yummy. Everything we needed for a cold holiday night.
