But Duke doesn't have a monopoly on excellence here. The North Carolina Central University Eagles have built an HBCU dynasty, drawing football fans from across the country every season.
Then there's The Durham Bulls – the most famous minor league baseball team in America. So famous, in fact, they have a movie about them starring Kevin Coster! Check out the 1988 classic "Bull Durham" if you don't believe us.
Beyond all of that, the Durham Sports Commission keeps the momentum going by recruiting championship-level play, offering plenty of opportunities to take in high-level sporting events in Durham.
