Two Beer Cinema Club Film Screening: Withdrawal
*** Supporting the North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition ***
Join us for a one-night only movie screening of the independent hit Withdrawal, featuring a conversation with writer/director Aaron Strand after the show!
About the film:
Artistic lovers, Viv and Jay, have become trapped in a vicious cycle of codependent heroin addiction. But when Viv’s wealthy parents hire an interventionist to take Viv to rehab, the couple decides to set off on their own with the help of a suboxone prescription... all they have to do is survive a harrowing night through drug withdrawal.
Raw, unflinching, and surprisingly funny, Withdrawal was shot on miniDV in Athens, GA for a budget of $60k. Inspired by the experience of writer/director Aaron Strand, a filmmaker in long-term recovery, the film has won 12 awards on the festival circuit including Best Feature/Best Director at the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival and Best Actress at the Kanazawa Film Festival.
