“Modern Calligraphy for Beginners” @ JB Duke Hotel Marketplace Bar
Handwritten notes never go out of style, and if holiday cards, place cards and gift tags are on your to-do list, now is the perfect time to learn the art of calligraphy.
Settle in at the AAA Four Diamond JB Duke Hotel's sleek Marketplace Bar for a beginner-friendly calligraphy workshop led by Anna White of Sip & Script. Designed for stationery enthusiasts, DIY brides-to-be and anyone who enjoys trying something new, the class introduces modern calligraphy techniques using a pointed dip pen and ink.
You will receive two hours of instruction and demonstration plus a beginner's calligraphy kit with two nibs, a pot of black ink, two letter guides, tracing paper and a straight pen holder. Everything you use in the class is yours to keep.
Once the ink dries, gather around the fire pits on the outdoor terrace and compare your new lettering over drinks, available for purchase at the Marketplace Bar. Throughout the class, guests can also order food and beverages from the JB Duke Hotel’s Lobby Lounge menu to enjoy during the experience. View the full menus at https://www.jbdukehotel.com/dine/lobby-lounge.
The class is $65, and advance registration is required at https://www.sipandscript.com/events/modern-calligraphy-for-beginners-at-jb-duke-hotel-1/. For more information, visit www.jbdukehotel.com/experiences or call (919) 660-6400.
The calligraphy class is part of the Dive Into Durham Masterclass series, a fall program that invites the Triangle to discover its next creative passion. The series is hosted by JB Duke Hotel and the nearby Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, both AAA Four Diamond properties on the campus of Duke University.
