Vaguely Reminiscent has been a fixture on Ninth St. for quite a while. Their space has evolved from selling natural fiber clothing and basket-weaving supplies to a shop packed with eclectic and comfortable women's clothing, shoes, jewelry, hair scrunchies and purses. Need a unique gift? They also sell colorful and quirky socks, wind chimes, buttons and magnets.

Amazing store, tons of fun and beautiful clothing, shoes & fun "stuff", & ridiculously helpful staff. And right now they are doing their giving thing where they donate an amount equal to 25% of whatever you purchase (pre-tax I assume) to a local charity. They are part of the heart and soul of Durham's 9th Street experience.

You know those little plastic earring backs? The ones that you can buy 100 for $3 on Amazon? And that most stores give away for free with their earrings? Well, the ladies here charge you $5 for A PAIR, after you just spent $20 on earrings.
So it makes me wonder, if their mark up on something silly like earring backs is that high, how much is the markup on everything else in the store (which is completely overpriced already i might add)?
Also have to agree with the reviewer below who said they felt like they were being watched like a hawk by the staff. Very uncomfortable.

I just stopped by looking for a birthday gift to surprise my friend with, and I was eyeing the most fabulous green heels ever !! I was so torn because I wasn't sure if they'd fit her or not, and Carol was so incredibly accommodating and even thought of a plan of action for what we could do if the shoes don't end up fitting, so I went home with a beautiful new pair of shoes that I'm sure my friend is going to love!! Super helpful staff and I am eternally grateful for their willingness to help every single time I come into their store

I've been coming here for about 10 years and it's a delight every time! I never leave empty-handed because if I'm not shopping for a fun gift, I'm finding a quirky hairclip or cool earrings for myself.
