Consistency. At least it was consistent. I always try and say something positive about a place. I had to think for some time on this one:
Parking - You have to park 2 blocks and the parking garage does not have a convenient elevator (if it had any).
The Belllman - Not very helpful, nor friendly.
The Front desk - Not at all friendly or inviting.
The room - I adjusted the thermostat to 72 and it finally got down to 74 (from 77 for most of the night) at 3 am.
The food - I couldn't tell you. It has 2 places to eat (ground floor and roof). The bellman did not even know they had a restaurant on the roof (and I had to ask him since nobody was at the front desk). I looked at both menus and to say it was limited is being generous.
So the moment you have been waiting for, the positive thing. The best thing I can say about the place is that it is near The Yonder and The Daily. Very good coffeeshop and bar. Skip the food (meh) and have a coffee and a beer.
Do yourself a favor and stay at the (very) nearby, 21C Hotel. MUCH friendlier, nicer and about the same price. -
I'm feeling fortunate that a flight delay led to an unplanned stay at The Durham. Loved the room details, especially the gorgeous bed quilts and ceramic cups! Breakfast in the beautiful lobby restaurant was perfect - the best I had in a week of travel in North Carolina! This place is a gem of a hotel. -
We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary with a getaway to Durham. We were greeted by Gary and quickly felt welcome. We shared why we were there and he treated us to drinks and breakfast the next morning. We thought that was so thoughtful. We enjoyed drinks and an appetizer on the rooftop. What an amazing venue. The drinks were great and the hummus and pita appetizer hit the spot. Brenda was so nice and answered our questions. We had a great nights rest in a comfortable and spacious room. We woke up this morning and enjoyed breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The cappuccinos were so good and the barista made them extra special. We ordered the Farmer’s Omelette with spinach, avocado, tomatoes, mushrooms, and goat cheese. Very tasty. We highly recommend this hotel for your next getaway. -
An absolute fabulous place to be. This lovely ‘Boutique’ Hotel located in downtown Durham NC is such a unique, stylish and unique legend space. With a great view and an amazing Rooftop View across Durham, hosting all types of events and evenings to remember non-stop !! We all love The Durham Hotel 💗💗💗 -
I had a wonderful time staying here for an overnight! There were so many nice small touches that made the experience really great. For example--I was able to request that they bring freshly ground local coffee beans to my door at 6am for me to brew coffee. What an awesome idea!
