I had such a wonderful experience with Skyler at Rock Paper Scissors in Durham. She really listened to what I wanted and made me feel completely comfortable the entire time. I especially appreciated that she didn’t force conversation. It felt calm, respectful, and very attuned to my energy, which made the appointment genuinely relaxing.

She took her time, paid attention to the details, and the result was exactly what I hoped for. I’ve gotten so many compliments since, and I honestly feel so good about my hair. Thank you, Skyler, for such a thoughtful and affirming experience. I’ll absolutely be back!

I had a wonderful experience with Mal on Saturday, May 9. I love my curly cut and will absolutely be back! Mal was easy to talk to and understood exactly what I needed to make my hair look its best.

I am completely satisfied- and so is my daughter, with Kara’s talent, giving life, shape and definition to my daughter’s curly hair! See for yourself! 😍 I would have left Kara a deserving tip, but I am genuinely struggling to meet-ends. 😭 Anyway, I did enjoy my visit to this salon. Everyone released nothing but good vibes into the atmosphere of the salon, and I felt welcomed. For example, the receptionist (was wearing light blue jeans with white stars decoration) offered me a seat so that I didn’t have to stand while Kara took care of my daughter. Great music also flooded the salon! 😊 I definitely recommend you check out this LGBTQIA friendly salon!

I got there 12 minutes late, but they still sent me home 15 minutes earlier with a still wet hair. They didn’t finalize my curly hair in a professional way, my curls were nowhere to be found. I finally chose to get more layers but it just looks chopped. I do not want to sound rude but if you want to charge $120+tip for a curly haircut, I expect it to be flawless and to have that amazing hair salon finalization. I got an awesome curly haircut in my hometown before, I know what my hair is capable of. My hair was so long, they had the opportunity to do something very nice but I ended up with the worst haircut I ever had. Need to stop selling curly haircut like you are curls “specialist” when you deliver this type of job. Unless the bar is set too low around here… very disappointed. It was done by Laurie btw.

I’ve been going back and forth about posting this review for months. This was my first time getting my hair done in Durham since moving to NC. The salon is very nice, trendy and progressive. The staff was very welcoming, professional and friendly. Unfortunately the haircut I had received wasn’t what I had expected and ended up going back to get it fixed.....after trying to make it work for about a week I ended up driving back to my old hair dresser almost 4 hours away so she could work her magic.
