Umm HELLO?? Mal did an AMAZING job with my hair! I have weird wavy hair that is very annoying to style and Mal did an amazing layered curly cut that I am soo happy with! Ive had a good hair day practically every day since Ive seen them! Mal was also so fun to talk to and I had a great time there. The vibes at this salon are amazing, highly rec!!

Laura at RPS has been cutting my hair for over a decade. I first started going to her after stopping someone on the street with amazing bangs and asking who their stylist was. While it’s been years since I’ve had bangs, Laura consistently gives me a great cut—whether it’s just a trim or something new. Her advice is always thoughtful when I ask for it, and I never feel pressured. Highly recommend!

My first time at Rock, Paper Scissors was great! Destiny was fabulous, as usual. She has cut my hair for several years, and I won’t let anyone else touch it. I’ve never gotten a bad cut from her, and yesterday was no exception! I am thrilled with my new fringe, and although I was a little nervous about trying a new style, she trimmed a little at a time and gave me exactly what I wanted. I absolutely love it and am so grateful for such a conscientious and skilled curly stylist! I’ve included before and after photos of my cut!

Michael is amazing! He listened to the information I shared about the cut I wanted and did a great job assessing the length and texture of my hair. He created a beautiful cut of long layers and face framing pieces. I've never had a more beautiful blowout. Highly recommend!

I am new to NC and Rock Paper Scissors was recommended to me by my niece. I was so happy with my haircut from Michael. He listened to what I wanted and recommended a slight change. It came out exactly what I wanted and needed. They are very friendly and nice and the price was great. Definitely getting my next haircut from Michael.

Lovely first experience, I will definitely go back. The salon was bright, welcoming, full of great energy and beautiful plants! Sage was kind, approachable, listened to what I wanted and did a wonderful job. It's the first time in a while I've been excited to go back to the same stylist!

The salon itself is nice, and the customer service was great, but unfortunately, it wasn't the right fit for me. There seemed to be a miscommunication between me and the stylist, resulting in a cut that didn't suit what I was hoping for. The framing around my face was cut much too short, almost like I have bangs now, and it’s made managing my hair difficult. I can't even tuck it behind my ears, and it constantly falls into my face. I’ve had to buy hairpins just to keep it out of my way for basic tasks like driving, typing, or even seeing clearly. I was really emotional after I left, even to the point of tears. We had to cancel our family photos scheduled for next week, and I lost our deposit. Since then, I've received several comments from people asking, ‘What happened to your hair?’ or saying, ‘At least it grows fast.’ While the salon might be a good fit for others, it just wasn’t the right experience for me. I’ve had a stylist for years who really understood my hair, and perhaps that made it harder to adjust. By the end of the appointment, I felt uncomfortable and didn’t trust the stylist to fix things without making it worse. Update: Thank you for reaching out, but nothing can be done. It has to grow out. I have bangs now, which I never asked for. I don't feel comfortable there. I felt like I was given a bad haircut and then was abandoned. There are no tips on styling and no recommendations on products. It was like, oh, what do you think? "I really don't like the front." Ok, well, goodbye. This account is in my maiden name, and I booked under my married name. That is why you can't find me.

I do not regret following the great reviews to this salon and stylist. Emma asked questions, listened, and had great suggestions. Very happy with my cut! I also really appreciate being able to book an appointment on a Sunday. Really nice physical space and ample parking. Great products as well. Happy to have found my way here!

I attended a free haircut day for the first time. First of all, the pride flag at the entrance of the store was very reassuring. I have a habit of pulling out my hair when I'm stressed, so my hair is getting thinner in some areas. When I told them about this, the staff was very kind, so I decided to leave everything to them. She understood me and gave me a nice short hairstyle. The staff were also very kind and made me feel comfortable.

Highly recommend this salon/barber shop! Laurie was great with my curly hair and taught me how to retrain my hair so that I can style it the way I want to. Gavin has been cutting my partner’s hair for the past year and is always super clean with the razor. Love the new location and energy of the new space!

I had a wonderful experience at RPS. This why my first time and I loved everything about it. My hairstylist, Mal was amazing. I cannot recommend him enough! They are great at making hairstyles more masculine or feminine to meet your gender affirming needs, or style. He has loads of great ideas and I felt confident in letting him take full control in transforming my hair. I was NOT disappointed !!! I was beaming at the end running my hands through my fresh cut. I have a hard time envisioning things on myself and have to heavily rely on/trust my stylist to capture what it is I want. I was overjoyed with the results. The environment at Rock, Paper, Scissors is cozy, cute, and so welcoming! They have these super comfy couches, and a vintage-y, groovy aesthetic interior design. The hairstyling area and bathroom are so incredibly SPOTLESS. Such a refreshing salon with friendly staff and warm environment. If you experience a lot of anxiety like myself, I feel like the staff and space here is far less intimidating than most salons. Also, if you have limited availability they are one of few salons open on Sundays! Reflecting that this business makes themselves more available and accommodating of you and your individual needs. I was quite pleased with the pricing as well. If you’re looking at RPS and are on the fence, go for it. I highly recommend Mal (; get you a fresh, fun, and queer cut.

This was my first time at Rock Paper Scissors and it was the best haircut experience I have ever had. The receptionist was so kind, and the space was cute, bright, and fun. I got my curly hair cut by Sage and it was the best hair cut of my life. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but explained that my hair was frustrating me and felt to floppy and unmanageable. Sage knew just what to do and gave my the best haircut! I can't wait to go back.

After moving to the Triangle a couple of years ago, I have been trying to find a hair stylist who understands curly hair. And I am thankful that I found Mashaal at RPS. Pics attached for the amazing job she did... The best curly cut I got till now.
