Directions 4.8

Nearly eight miles of Eno River State Park trails are part of the Mountain-to-Sea State Trail, connecting the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks beaches. The trail is great for backpacking, hiking, and running, and dogs are welcome while on a leash.

Great spot to pick up the MST. Small gravel parking on the left about 1/4 mile before park entrance. Going west will take you to the boardwalk, and going East will take you back towards Falls Lake Rec Area. Keen spot to run and enjoy the trails.

Small gravel parking area located across from the Rolling View Recreation Area entrance sign. Two trails leave this parking area. The first trail is located by the road near the sign board, just follow the blue blaze crossing Baptist Road at the cemetery and the trail continues on to the MST. The second trail is in the back of the parking area by the “No camping” sign. Follow the blue blaze for about 0.3 of a mile to the white blazing for the Mountains to the Sea Trail. Turning right will take you back to Rollings View entrance road just north of the guard shack. Turning left will take you to the boardwalk about 4.2 miles away.

Map at the kiosk makes it easy to navigate and the trail access is clearly marked.

As a past through trail I am sure it's great. But if you are just a casual hiker camping overnight at a state park in the area, it isn't great. It doesn't actually follow the shore so there isn't much to see and because it is part of a larger trail system it doesn't loop or lead to any monuments. I will leave it to the real hikers.
