One of the last truly great hotel bars. I spend a healthy chunk of my monthly residencies here (I’m an EMBA student) and can honestly say that the bartenders are among the most amiable drink slingers I’ve ever engaged with. The drinks are as cold as the conversations are profound.

Whether you’re winding down with your team, pre-gaming for a night on the town, or trying to suppress your accounting-induced anxieties and general bouts of imposter syndrome, the guys at J Chou have you covered. 🍸

Only reason I’m giving a 3 is bc of one person which was our waiter. We were ignored for almost an hour. Others got served while we were avoided. Not sure what triggered them. JB is a great place. Food was good. Location was great. We plan to return.

We had a lovely meal. The food was delicious, the ambiance was causal but classy, the cocktails were tasty and fun, and the service was good. Good vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options.

Ordered two burgers. Never got them. Left after 45 minutes of waiting for our order. Won't be back.

The Lobby Lounge at JB Duke Hotel was an outstanding experience from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable, with cozy seating, a beautiful fireplace, and the stunning J. Chou Peninsula Bar creating the perfect upscale vibe.

The food was excellent, offering a great mix of comfort favorites and gourmet options. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The handcrafted cocktails were also top-notch and paired perfectly with the relaxing atmosphere.

What really stood out was how welcoming and social the space feels. Whether you're meeting friends, having a business meetup, or just relaxing after a long day, this is a perfect spot. The service was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout our visit.

Definitely one of the best hotel lounge experiences in the Durham area. Highly recommend stopping by if you're visiting the hotel or just looking for a classy place to unwind.
