Celebrity chef, Katsuji Tanabe has opened his latest concept in Boxyard RTP. True to his roots, he’s showcasing Mexico-city style tacos complemented by mezcal-based cocktails in a casual setting. Drawing from his knowledge of producing incredible flavorful meat from a “hot tub”—a steaming, bubbling pot filled with lard, confit and spices shared with slow-cooked meats like chorizo, chicken, and brisket. The result is authentic tacos featuring tender meat and a flavor-packed broth served on handmade corn tortillas and topped with homemade salsas.

We are avid Taco eaters and were happy to find a Taco place with great reviews.
However, our experience was not that great!
We are party of 4, ordered 4 different Tacos, all were just OK, my husband order was very salty.
We have an early dinner so the small taqueria was empty with no customer and two persons working there. They both were very nice, super friendly.
I am not sure we will be back and will be in search for a “Go-To” taqueria in the Triangle.

Great place in a little plaza adjacent to a business park. The staff behind the counter were friendly and helpful. The two tacos were a little on the pricey side, but upon receiving them they were worth the price in the pile of chicken alone. It helped that the tacos had double tortillas, so with a bit of finesse it really was four good sized tacos. The taste was great, nothing too overpowering and everything meshed together well to add to the whole. This place is definitely worth a visit.

so authentic and delicious. I got beef, tongue tacos, and they were perfectly soft and well seasoned. If you’re a taco lover, I can recommend this! The views help too. Boxyard is awesome!

Loved this place and wish I knew about it sooner! The tacos are huge and absolutely delicious. I had a pollo and a chorizo taco with the hibiscus lime drink. They have 4 salsas to choose from and the tacos came with lime and beans (which I thought was consome at first and was dipping my tacos in lol, but so yummy). The chicken was really good but the chorizo was my favorite. So much flavor! The chef was super nice and I love the Mexican music playing. I was in my happy place having my lunch here today. The Boxyard area itself if nice as well. There is indoor seating but also plenty of seating outside, even out in the trees there are picnic tables.
