The food and prices here are unbeatable! I’ve been here several times now and have never been disappointed with the food (which is diner/ grease joint style, so if that’s not your thing, then this review isn’t for you). Highlights: the fried catfish is, no lie, the BEST fried catfish I’ve ever had. The banana pudding is so good (this coming from a super picky banana pudding addict). The banana pudding milkshake is truly next level, they use the banana pudding to make the milkshake. Lemonade - their lemonade is homemade and it’s amazing. I have to give this place 5 stars for all of that. The only (somewhat) negative about this place is the young guy with dreads who is often working the counter. He’s usually just really indifferent, which is fine. But occasionally I think he be sucking on those lemons instead of lemonade, and is in a bad mood even when you’re trying to be super friendly back, which dampens the vibe. Overall, though, Jimmys is a heavy hitter; the type of joint you go to when you need the prices to be affordable, the food to be artery-clogging goodness, and the atmosphere to be “get me in and out” casual.

Jimmy's catered our BIG 400 person race this past week, and it was wonderful! They got all the fixin's, and thought of everything. Pricing and quality was great! They made it so easy for me to order, pick up and EAT!! WOO! Thank you!

Locals only American cuisine. Like, there's homemade banana pudding on offer. Nathan's Frank's and chili dogs. All people on both sides of the counter. The crinkle fries are the best. You could get in with a wheelchair but it would be tight. Great option for kids and grandparents. If you don't like a place with a squirt bottle of ketchup on every table, keep moving.

I go here once a year when I have to attend Duke for medical reasons. I always stop here. The hot dogs and fries are on point every time. The full Jimmy all the way is the best. The lemonade is amazing. Stop in and enjoy.

The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from an old school hot dog shop. The catfish is soooooo good and I'll be going back regularly just for that! It was served so fresh I burnt my tongue eating it because it was so good I couldn't resist, it was still steaming hot when I put my leftovers away. Can't wait to go back!

Locals only mom and pop burger shop. Fresh home made banana pudding and other hand crafted treats at the counter. This place is as Durham as Durham gets. Expect all people. The Texas toast burger is as close as you are getting to Culver's on this side of the Mississippi. Handicap friendly, and an excellent place for the kids.

The best catfish hand down 😍. I eat here 3 times a week. Catfish, chicken wings and Texas melted. Hell everything is good except the damn hotdog 🤢 to me I got sick off they hotdogs.

Today, our family enjoyed a delicious meal at Jimmy's. We feasted on a variety of options, including juicy burgers cooked to order, classic hot dogs, and flavorful catfish fillets. The catfish was particularly light and flavorful, and we enjoyed it alongside a side of crispy fries. To top it off, we couldn't resist the irresistible banana pudding – a true highlight of the meal. Jimmy's is a Durham institution, and it consistently delivers on quality food. We highly recommend it!

This was my 1st time trying out this restaurant and I was drawn to it by “famous hot dogs”. And let me tell you, DELICIOUS! The all beef hot dogs are AMAZING! Also tried the fried chicken wings and fried catfish… SMH…That’s how delicious the food is. And let’s not talk about the fried okra…can you say, “Melt in your mouth”. Even the homemade (let me repeat that) HOMEMADE lemonade…is 2nd to none! Well, Jimmy’s Famous Hot Dogs…you did an outstanding job. I will definitely pass the word to my family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. I will be back. ☺️

Pretty good hot dogs. Chili tastes canned. Feels old and dirty at times. Had some sewage smells coming from the bathroom for a time, but didn't today. I live close by and like hot dogs sometimes🤷. It's serviceable for that. Great service. Good people working there.

Stopped into this little spot on the way out of Durham. We got the catfish dinner with fried okra and Jimmy dog "all the way". The counter person was super helpful walking us through the menu. The fish was amazing as was the okra. They have malt vinegar for the fish which was a nice option. The dogs had chili, cheese, slaw and mustard - yummo! And the homemade desserts were a nice touch (wish I would have gotten a banana pudding for the road.)
