After a recent visit to this store I wondered why the hush puppies were like sendered horribly tasting as if in days way beyond oil change.
Also I'm adding this paragraph after I had posted, and that is about the fish two pieces of a three-piece dinner we're just fine but the third piece looked odd and when I took a bite of it it seemed to be some sort of piece of leftover junk it was horribly tasting and I threw it out the window.
And unfortunately I cannot add a picture of what should be the normal golden yellowish brown colored hush puppy with a tender center compared to the brown deep brown colored incinerated in my opinion version found in Durham.
However the picture you see below is of a nice as I recall Captain D's normal golden fried hush puppies with tender Center This I encountered when passing through Wytheville, VA. -
Absolutely amazing restaurant. I rarely leave a five-star glowing review for a restaurant.... But the day I visited. (I live about an hour away) The woman working drive-thru was so sweet and kind. It's so refreshing to honestly have that level of a friendliness and service these days.
The fish was really hot and fresh and was still warm by the time I got home! I didn't even know we had a Captain D's within a decent driving distance. I live in Clayton. But now that I do, I will make the drive once a month or so and pick up some Captain D's fish because if you're a fan of the restaurant... You know they have the best fish!

Also I read the other review about being discriminatory against white people.... I'm white as snow and the drive-thru lady was black and she was super kind to me so I don't know who they were dealing with but they treated me awesome. -
Totally failed consistently to over the last few visits at multiple locations. Yet, I keep going back! Has been my favorite casual restaurant since childhood and keep hoping for improvement. They are showing me who they are and I need to believe them. RIP Captain D's.

We got the fish and shrimp meal. It was so good! Hot, fresh and tastes great.
My husband enjoys eating here about once a week. The quality of the food is always consistent. That means they have good cooks, a hard working staff and management that works with them. I hope corporate rewards them well.

I'm not much for fried food. But if you go, make sure you order the lemon pepper grilled salmon! Make your side items broccoli and okra. You can't go wrong🙂
