Was looking for a good Jamaican spot and this popped up with great reviews so I decided to try it myself. So glad that I did. It was delicious! I tried the medium sized jerk chicken, rice and peas and cabbage since it was my first time, and it exceeded my expectations. The chicken was fall off the bone, the meat and skin was full of spices and the oxtail + jerk gravies were delicious too. I also grabbed a beef patty with coco bread and that did not disappoint. They even have pink Ting!
When I walked into the restaurant, there was a family of 4 (2 adults/2kids) sitting in a dining area that has a mix of tables that can seat groups of up to 2 and 4 people. The woman who took my order greeted me and asked if it was my first time there. I told her yes and how I found them, and she said I made the right choice instead of going elsewhere. She was absolutely right! A watch out for me when eating at restaurants that have food from other cultures is if people from that culture are eating there, too. When you have Jamaicans eating at a Jamaican spot, you know it’s good.
So glad I found Angie’s and I’ll definitely be back! -
West Virginian here who comes to Durham frequently and love trying new spots. Soooo grateful to my aesthetician for recommending this place. Absolutely delicious authentic Jamaican food and very friendly staff. The rice and peas were so on point!! -
Angie’s Jamaican Grill LLC is one of the best Jamaican food spots we’ve visited. We ordered the large oxtail with rice and peas and mac and cheese, the curry goat with rice and peas and steamed cabbage, and the jerk chicken with baked mac and cheese and cabbage. Every dish was packed with flavor.
The portion sizes are huge, so be ready for leftovers. What impressed us most was the consistency in seasoning and flavor across every dish. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and authentic.
We happened to get the last of the curry goat, which had a lot of bones, but it was still absolutely delicious. They even gave us extra curry chicken because they felt the goat portion wasn’t fully up to their standard. That level of customer service and integrity says a lot about this place.
If you’re looking for authentic Jamaican food, generous portions, and amazing flavor, Angie’s Jamaican Grill LLC is definitely worth the trip.
Highly recommend the oxtail, jerk chicken, curry goat, and rice and peas. -
You would think like most Jamaican spots when they have attitudes the food qualit y is good. Not this place. The inside is small but comfy for a local eat in place. The food is highly over rated. The curry tasted like it had cinnamon, the goat should have been cooked longer, it was still meat on the bone. The OK tails were also under cooked they were hard. The rice had a burned smell and taste to it. Overall not happy and would not recommend -
Hmmmm, where shall I start? So many positives to highlight!!! First off the food!!! If she had called this restaurant, 'Mama's Kitchen' that would have been a perfect name. I'm a travel healthcare worker, and Angie's Restaurant, caters to my needs. I can depend on this place the authentic Jamaican meals. I buy nowhere else. Always on point!!! Im always satisfied. Every dollar, well spent.
To top it off, customer service, second to none!!!
What's my favorite? Boy, that's a hard question
