Update: I wanted to update my rating because they responded very well to my review! I’m going to try again soon!
My husband and I had the pleasure of eating here last night and we were extremely excited.
We started out with lentil and beef sambusas (prefer lentil). It was so good and that sauce is very very well made with it, I’d buy that from a jar!
Then we were conflicted and just decided to share the special which was a sampler of two meats and three vegetable dishes.
Again, we preferred the lentils. The reason why we didn’t give all stars is because the beef in the Awaze Tibs was way too tough (my teeth are tender so I had to stop eating it and just ate everything around it) also the chicken also wasn’t as tender of the Doro Wat, also be careful of small bones in the sauce it comes with.
Also we love the fermented bread of injura and we’ve eaten different kinds in D.C, Chicago and Atlanta - we felt it was too sour for us or tangy if that makes sense. It started to overtake everything you ate after a while. Still good but not our preference.
I believe they are new and with some certain adjustments they will be amazing!
Service was very good, she memorized everything. Also the atmosphere is quaint and just right! They have a sink just to wash your hands for your convenience. Pricing was adequate and the special is very inexpensive. We had no other issues!
We will eat there again but maybe hesitant and just do their non-meat dishes.
We’ve eaten at Goorsha, we don’t like them as much. We felt it a bit pricey for what they offer and also a bit pretentious.
Give Abol a go this is obviously very subjective! -
Amazing Ethiopian feast! This is the best such restaurant in Raleigh-Durham. We really enjoyed the authentic flavors, with a local southern twist. We much like really sour sourdough bread, so we especially appreciated the sourness of their injera. -
They are located in an unassuming strip mall but the inside does not match the outside. Once you walk in, you’re hit with wonderful smells and a beautiful space that wants you to sit down. The staff are super nice and the food comes out fast and fresh. Gorgeous colors, wonderful aromas and even better on the tastebuds. And the amount of food you get for the money is an added bonus. They’re somewhat new (only open 4 months), but they’re doing it all correctly. I will be back. -
Selam was very sweet and the food the best , eating Ethiopian my whole life, I would have to say this restaurant was the best one yet. Super clean and the flavor was magnificent. I am forever in love. Favorite is the vegetarian combo and Waze tibs, spicy good and injera bread. -
I had a wonderful experience at Abol Ethiopian Restaurant yesterday. I brought my clients there for lunch, and we were all very impressed. The food was absolutely amazing fresh, flavorful, and authentically prepared. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, and everything was delicious.
We also had Ethiopian coffee, baklava, and sambusa, and they were all extraordinary. The quality, taste, and presentation were excellent. The portions were generous, and the amount we paid was very reasonable for the outstanding food and experience we received.
The service was friendly and welcoming, making it a perfect place for a client lunch. I highly recommend Abol Ethiopian Restaurant to anyone looking for delicious Ethiopian cuisine and a great dining experience. We will definitely be coming back!
