Please use CAUTION when booking at this hotel!!! From the moment we arrived, it smelled like cigarette smoke, (although they have signs posted that it is "Smoke free"). At check in, you are charged an additional $75, which no one even mentioned, there are no signs posted about this additional charge, and no receipt offered at check in or check out. It just came as a surprise when my daughter took a look at her checking account. In addition, the halls and room we were in have a very pungent, toxic smell like carpet cleaner mixed with cigarettes. I had a difficult time sleeping, because the smell made it hard to breath and it literally gave me a headache! *Apparently I'm allergic to the air here and I honestly couldn't wait to leave! As for the bed and room itself, I found spacious, seemingly clean, and comfy, but the smell is horrible!!! The continental breakfast was nice and I appreciate they offer hot as well as cold items, like eggs, sausage, waffles, juice, yogurt, bread and bagels which you can toast, and the staff worked hard to keep it restocked. Despite the pictures posted online and how clean they try to keep this place, it was not the most pleasant experience. Perhaps, I should invest in a small, portable, air purifier I can take with me whenever I travel. -
Showed up after sunset, after booking online due to the high rating on Hotels.com. Got a first floor room. The lock was barely hanging on, and the multiple holes near it showed that it wasn't the first or third time someone has busted the latch open. The cigarillo smell was thick, and the stains on the floor carpet was suspect.
After I went to talk about the room and see about potentially getting another one (I'm kind), my wife messaged me urgently. Multiple men stood in the window of the hotel room and stared at her until it was obvious she wasn't alone.
I was told I would get a refund. I have yet to get said refund.
Do not stay here. -
My husband and I stayed at this motel years ago. Since then, it needs some repair and updating. Overall, our room was large and clean though rather spartan in decor. The bed was very comfortable with several pillows. I always check for bugs of any kind when we first get to a motel/hotel room. I found none. The price was reasonable. The motel was very quiet. Plenty of hot water for showers. A/C worked fine and was quiet. -
We stayed at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Raleigh/Durham Southpoint from April 1 to April 3. The staff were truly the best part of our stay, polite, responsive, and attentive. They checked in on us and were helpful within their limits, which we genuinely appreciated.
Unfortunately, the property itself did not meet expectations. The hotel had more of a motel feel than a hotel feel. The building felt worn and outdated, with ragged hallway carpets and only a very basic gym. One of the two elevators was broken, and the working elevator smelled like smoke.
We also experienced cleanliness and comfort issues. Our bathroom was not cleaned to the standard we expected, and there were noticeable smoke odors in parts of the building. There were pets throughout the property, people cooking in rooms, and children running in the hallways late enough that we had to request a move to another floor due to noise.
I want to emphasize that the staff were professional and did their best, but the property clearly needs investment and upgrades. Because of the overall condition, we would likely choose a different place next time. -
This was probably the worst hotel we ever stayed at. The location is convenient, but it is not a safe area. Our family now refers to it as the “Walking Dead” hotel because there is a railroad track in front of it with drug users walking around outside. There are also some sketchy people inside the hotel-we think there was prostitution happening. The whole lobby stinks of sewage, the ceiling is actively leaking in numerous areas. One of the reasons we chose to stay here was so the kids could swim but the pool was closed-based on other reviews, it’s been closed for about a year now. The rooms were dirty and some of the lights didn’t work. There’s old vomit or poop in the stairwell. The only reason we didn’t run away after we saw all of this was because other hotels were already booked. When I booked this, I felt that it was a good choice because it’s a LaQuinta. I’m really shocked that corporate allows this location to be like this. Now, going forward, I won’t automatically trust that I’m choosing a decent hotel because of the name “LaQuinta”. What a disappointment.
