J Robbins w/ Joe Hall at The Fuzzy Needle

J. ROBBINS, the singer/guitarist and principal songwriter of many DC and Maryland based post-punk rock bands since the late 1980s, (most notably Jawbox, Burning Airlines, and Channels), releases new music under his own name both on Dischord Records and independently on Bandcamp, playing live and touring regularly either with Brooks Harlan on bass and Peter Moffett on drums as J. Robbins (band), or playing solo acoustic (sometimes accompanied by Gordon Withers on cello), Recent tours have included support spots for Sugar, Bob Mould (solo and band), and Sunny Day Real Estate. Since the mid-90s J. has also been a recording engineer and producer of note in the post-punk music underground and continues in that role, as owner and operator of the Magpie Cage recording studio in Baltimore MD.

Joe Hall is a Durham-based songwriter and guitarist best known as a founding member of the acclaimed indie rock trio Hammer No More the Fingers and the driving force behind Blanko Basnet. Since launching the project in 2013, Hall has expanded his signature guitar work into a melodic, atmospheric sound that blends intricate musicianship with warm vocal harmonies and understated experimentation. Blanko Basnet's latest album, Entelechy (2024), grew out of longtime musical collaborations with keyboardist Jon Le Sueur and features a full band including members of Canine Heart Sounds and Hammer No More the Fingers. Performing solo in support of one of his longtime musical heroes, J. Robbins, Hall brings an intimate set drawn from the Blanko Basnet catalog, showcasing the thoughtful songwriting and dynamic guitar work that have defined his career.
