If you’re looking to add a little more spice to your life this winter, check out the new fast casual Mexican restaurant Tacos Number Juan located in Hope Valley Farms. With an affordable menu, including deals like .99 cent Taco Tuesdays, it could become a regular haunt. If the flavors taste familiar, it’s because it’s owned by the same restaurant group behind Fonda Lupita, which has a strong reputation for quality Mexican food. There are tortas and quesabirrias, ACPs, burritos, and bowls, not to mention signature sides like chorizo queso dip, chicken rolls and loaded fries. Wash it all down with a homemade margherita or a classic Mexican beer.

What a fun little place right here off MLK & Roxboro in Durham. We were there for lunch, and were pleasantly surprised by the cool vibe, the friendly staff and the flavorful food! The portions are big for that they charge and everything was fresh and delicious. As a vegetarian, I can rarely get a Torta so it was great to get one with the
vegan chicken. Will definitely go again! -
This is an edit as of May 2026 - this is our second time going within a week. We went on the busiest day of the year and had an excellent service -we went today 5/10 - it was practically empty and took over 40 minutes just to get my margarita (after having to ask 3 times) which is strange because they hand them to you as soon as you pay. It took over an hour and 15 minutes to get the correct food - our order came out was wrong, then no one tried to correct it. I had to speak up and now I’m being treated poorly because I complained. My toddler is screaming eat eat, cause we’ve been here almost 2 hours now we got the wrong order. I come here so much I don’t understand what happened tonight. I watched people come in right before and after us receive their drinks and food and leave while we were still waiting.
I had to remove a few stars cause this ruined my Mothers Day. I’ll be back though, I’ll give another chance for redemption. I’m just really disappointed cause it’s always such an amazing experience.
Original review- I haven’t rated a place a full 5 starts since before the pandemic. We typically utilize the drive thru but decided to dine in. I’m so happy we did. The service was top tier, food was amazing and the atmosphere was awesome. I have a toddler in tow and we both enjoyed a wonderful meal. Get the Birria meal with a frozen marg *chefs kiss* - PRO TIP - they have a kids menu- just ask. :) -
Yesterday we went for our first time. It’s been challenging to find really good Mexican food as we moved from CA. Until now! First impressions are everything. The design of this place feels super cool! As if out for social fun with friends. They serve margaritas and have options at the bar behind the counter where you order and get your number. The food was so good. I had the taco beef barria, steak taco and a side of pinto rice and beans. Hubby has a chicken burrito and said it was very delicious with good flavors, and a decent size. I don’t normally like horchata OMG theirs was not sugary and you could taste notes of cinnamon. We met Ery who took our order. He is fantastic and welcomed us with warmth and introduced us to his colleague as well. Felt like being among friends. I sent the link to two of my friends who are also going to stop by. In the market, pricing is very important to folks and so it is nice to be able to go somewhere get food that tastes great and a quality ambiance without breaking the bank. It often makes the decision as to whether you will go out or not and whether you will become repeat customers. This is that place for all of the reasons above. Go and say hi to Ery! -
I Was on my way to eat Chinese and I saw this place sitting up on the hill and wanted to try their chicken tacos and they were pretty good. I tried their chicken quesidillia and the cheese pull was insane. I also had their house marquarita and their passion fruit frozen marquarita it was sooo good. I have to also give the guys and the young ladythat were working a solid 10 they were awesome.. The place was was very clean and welcoming. I will definitely go back. If you are ever in the Durham area and want Tacos I suggest you check them out. -
This was a cool spot for quick bite, but nothing worth going out of the way for. We got guacamole and chips, two chicken and two steak tacos and soft drinks. The chips were stale but the guacamole had a good taste. The chicken in the tacos were unseasoned. The steak tacos saved the meal, they were juicy and flavorful.
