Patty Boy
The newest vendor at the Durham Food Hall is a new concept from the folks behind neighboring Ex-Voto. True to the smash burgers and tater tot-focused menu, think checkered paper wrappings, a bit of a retro feel and not-so-serious approach to tapping into nostalgic favorites like happy meal deals and big-gulp fountain drinks.

Decided to try Patty Boy for the first time during lunch with my mom. It was a pretty busy Saturday at the food hall, but we were able to go right up to the counter and order . I got the fried pickle burger and my mom the deluxe veggie burger. After making our purchase we waited about 10 minutes before the order was ready.
The burgers were okay but nothing to rave about. Both burgers we cooked pretty well but we both felt that the burgers were lacking in flavor. The suaces are what brought everything together. However, a good burger should be able to hold its own without the extra toppings. My burger got a little messy at the end because I had more burger and toppings than bun.
Lastly, we noticed that they upcharge for everything. Upcharge for sauces, meats for the salad, or substitutions. Sometimes that can be a deterrent. Overall it was okay, but can’t say it would be my go to burger joint. -
I’ve been to patty boy a couple of times and usually the burgers are pretty good. However, my last visit was a little disappointing. I placed an order for 2 burgers and when I received them, the bun was completely saturated with grease. Had to use multiple napkins to absorb the puddle of grease that was on the wrapper. There was so much that I could not finish it. I will more than likely not go back here since there are plenty of better burgers places in this area. -
I was in the area with a family member today, and this was the first place that came to mind when I thought of getting burgers in Durham. I ate here one time in the past when I was going to a show at the Carolina Theater nearby, but what I didn't expect was that my burger would taste even more delicious this time around! The bacon was the perfect amount of crunchy and chewy, and the rest of my cheeseburger was oh-so savory. Would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area and craving a delicious burger, especially because of the great and friendly service. -
Staff was rude. They charge for mustard. I came back after looking at my burger to ask for more sauce that was on it. The girl at the counter walked back and complained with kitchen staff …came back to the counter and started talking to the next people in line without saying anything to me. She told them I was being helped. Then walked back and grabbed the sauce, brought it bad to the counter and said nothing. Burger was good in the end, but service was trash. -
Erica not sure is her name was very unprofessional while servicing my tots. She worked as the cashier on 5/16/26 at 4:27p Saturday evening.
She called for me to retrieve my tots and went to get my tots. She stood in the back by the cooker with my tots in her hand. I asked do you have a tray for my tots. She paused looking at me then proceeded to asked one of the cookers for a tray. During my transaction asked here or to-go I states for here. That clearly means I would need a tray. I had to ask for my tray. After I received the tray I asked can I get silverware to eat with and she pointed me to the water fountain to retrieve my silverware. Bad experience. I will reached out another day to speak with a manager. And will NEVER return along with any persons that likes to be treated with good service to Patty's boys.
Update:6/13/26
The owner responds is Vague and dishonest. I went to the bar and asked for an email of Patty boy owners to discuss the incident /mistreat from Erica the cashier. I reached out to owner via email two days after incident with no return response.
The word "Attuide" is being used here to dismiss the mistreatment from their staff that they obliviously allow in their business due to my skin color. I was mistreated by her and now lied on where I spent my money. In owner responds never stated her mistreated towards me did not occur. It states it happen because I had an "attitude". Patty yuck boys has no accountability of their actions. BE Careful spending money here. Worker s with no gloves, thin meat, basic hamburger concept with covert rascism is what you will receive from here. Me not returning is God protection.
