My husband and I stayed at this motel years ago. Since then, it needs some repair and updating. Overall, our room was large and clean though rather spartan in decor. The bed was very comfortable with several pillows. I always check for bugs of any kind when we first get to a motel/hotel room. I found none. The price was reasonable. The motel was very quiet. Plenty of hot water for showers. A/C worked fine and was quiet. -
We stayed at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Raleigh/Durham Southpoint from April 1 to April 3. The staff were truly the best part of our stay, polite, responsive, and attentive. They checked in on us and were helpful within their limits, which we genuinely appreciated.
Unfortunately, the property itself did not meet expectations. The hotel had more of a motel feel than a hotel feel. The building felt worn and outdated, with ragged hallway carpets and only a very basic gym. One of the two elevators was broken, and the working elevator smelled like smoke.
We also experienced cleanliness and comfort issues. Our bathroom was not cleaned to the standard we expected, and there were noticeable smoke odors in parts of the building. There were pets throughout the property, people cooking in rooms, and children running in the hallways late enough that we had to request a move to another floor due to noise.
I want to emphasize that the staff were professional and did their best, but the property clearly needs investment and upgrades. Because of the overall condition, we would likely choose a different place next time. -
This was probably the worst hotel we ever stayed at. The location is convenient, but it is not a safe area. Our family now refers to it as the “Walking Dead” hotel because there is a railroad track in front of it with drug users walking around outside. There are also some sketchy people inside the hotel-we think there was prostitution happening. The whole lobby stinks of sewage, the ceiling is actively leaking in numerous areas. One of the reasons we chose to stay here was so the kids could swim but the pool was closed-based on other reviews, it’s been closed for about a year now. The rooms were dirty and some of the lights didn’t work. There’s old vomit or poop in the stairwell. The only reason we didn’t run away after we saw all of this was because other hotels were already booked. When I booked this, I felt that it was a good choice because it’s a LaQuinta. I’m really shocked that corporate allows this location to be like this. Now, going forward, I won’t automatically trust that I’m choosing a decent hotel because of the name “LaQuinta”. What a disappointment. -
Our family only stayed at this hotel because our American Airlines flight was canceled due to weather, and this was the hotel they provided. Based on our experience, I believe American Airlines should seriously reconsider using this property for stranded travelers.
As we arrived in our Uber, there was a physical altercation taking place near the entrance between two individuals, which immediately made us feel unsafe. Throughout the property, there were several people lingering around who made the environment feel uncomfortable and sketchy.
The hotel itself was in very poor condition. The hallways and room had a strong odor of urine mixed with smoke and marijuana. There were stains throughout the property, and the overall cleanliness and maintenance were far below what I would expect from any hotel, especially one associated with a major brand.
I do want to recognize Dancia at the front desk. She was kind, professional, and welcoming despite the circumstances. None of the issues with the property were her fault, and she did her best to provide good customer service.
Unfortunately, the condition of the hotel overshadowed the positive interaction with the staff. I would not choose to stay here again, and I sincerely hope Wyndham invests in major renovations or considers rebuilding this property. More importantly, I hope American Airlines removes this hotel from its list of accommodations for displaced passengers, as I would not feel comfortable recommending it to other travelers. -
Advertised both in write up and in picture to have a hot tub. don't be fooled. There is no hot tub. You can see where they cemented over the area and placed an outdoor table. Need to update their site! pool was nice and clean. Included breakfast was nice with both hot ( waffles, eggs, sausage) and cold, cereal and bagels. Room was clean with comfortable beds. Staff was not friendly nor knowledgeable about their hotel . Overall decent place to stay for sleep purposes and travel at good price
