This is a very cool family – owned organic farm. The owners will happily give you a tour and show you how they raise their pigs, chickens, goats, and other livestock. They also specialize in herbal teas and such, we tried the sausage, which was fantastic!

I took their Backyard Chicken Course 101 in March and I learned so much in a short amount of time. It was extremely informative, easy to understand, and they were so patient with answering questions.
The course includes a full tour of their coop and they are very forthcoming with sharing information about how to best raise and care for your chickens. They have a beautiful flock and the eggs (HIGHLY recommend) are some of the best farm fresh eggs I've ever had.
I also purchased spicy sausage and its EXCELLENT. I like spice so it isn't spicy spicy to me personally but delicious nonetheless. 😋 I've used it for breakfast, breakfast sandwiches and in spaghetti, it's fantastic and very fresh tasting.
A few weeks after the course I purchased my own chicks! I've had them for a few weeks now and had to call for advice on a few occasions. Emmanuel was so kind and helpful (I was freaking out a bit worrying about my girls😖) with the advice on my coop and their health! My girls (JennieMae, ShirlAnn, Penelope Rose and Periwinkle Marie ) are all doing really great thanks to their class and their advice!! It's been really gratifying raising my girls and watching them grow and I can't wait to go back for their next crop of classes!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10 stars!!! 🥰💪🏾😍 -
I am all for supporting Black owned businesses, but I did not feel very welcomed. The owner walked by me several times, but he made no effort to introduce himself or even welcome me as a new patron. As soon as this white man came in, who purchased a rabbit, the owner gave his undivided attention to this man, despite the fact that I spent over $90 dollars st his farm. The second issue is that they were low on stock, on chicken, ox tails, and they didn’t have any rib eye steak, which is on their list of meats on their menu. I doubt I will go back to this market. I will stick with the Black Farmers market in Durham.

We're big on CSAs and supporting local, Black-owned businesses, so we were excited about finding Jireh for our eggs. We've been buying lots of eggs weekly from Jireh for over a year and their service, unfortunately, has degraded, over that time. It started with not having our eggs available at weekly pickups (inadvertently sold to others), which are supposedly committed, and paid for in advance, with limited recourse for recovery. Then, as our consumption levels changed, either greater or less, they became very rigid about changing our monthly invoicing. The final straw came after Immanuel, contrary to prior support from his wife Valerie's support, refused to make a future invoice adjustment based on our scheduled time out of town and inability to consume our normal rate of eggs. Instead, Immanuel canceled our membership and said we could rejoin at a higher price, even though he had told us multiple times in the past both in person and in texts they would not raise our rates. Immanuel initially implied the bird flu had something to do with their price increase, even though their chickens are healthy and he even conceded they are "overproducing". Later, they said the cost of feed has gone up and is the reason for their price increase, even though other small producers like them are selling their eggs at a fraction of the cost. It became clear the Jarvis' were taking advantage of an unrelated disaster (bird flu price spike) and exploiting it with their customers to make a little more money, with no respect or concern for long-standing, loyal customers like ourselves. I had also learned that Immanuel leads the Black Replublicans in Durham, and felt additionally conflicted by indirectly funding a hateful Trump agenda, that is defunding and eliminating critical public services, as well as putting communities of color at increasingly more risk and insecurity. Finally, I saw a former employee of Jireh on Glassdoor say that they don't treat their employees well and are "very manipulative"...seems consistent with my experience. Fortunately, there are many more local farmers, with great food at reasonable prices, who value their customers and personal integrity.
