So far I've only attended for some Spanish classes. The campus is fairly easy to navigate and students and staff alike are usually keen to help if you're turned around. The library is AWESOME, tons of resources in book, DVD/Blu-ray, CD, graphic novel, etc formats, and small spaces you can reserve for study groups. -
It’s fine. No social scene though so not like a normal college if you want the college experience don’t go here but it’s good if you just want to take a few classes and go home.
Also, be kind to the resident geese or they will hiss at you. -
Good school, watch out for phone theft. My phone went missing a year ago. Yesterday the find my iPhone app said my phone was found in china. So good school but if you drop your phone on the ground, someone will steal it and ship it to China -
Great school ! Amazing faculty and staff members. -
HORRIBLE experience with the academic advising and financial aid offices at Durham Tech.
The academic advisor I was assigned was absolutely no help and was not resourceful at all. Responses were never timely. I would often wait weeks to hear back, only to have to send another follow-up email after even more time had passed. I understand allowing 3 to 5 business days for a response, but waiting 9 to 12 days is unacceptable.
The financial aid department has been just as frustrating. When they do respond, it often seems like they did not fully read my email or review my student profile before replying.
The only thing keeping this community college afloat is the instructors. The instructors are extraordinary, helpful, and willing to support students even outside of regular office hours. I was going to give the school 2 stars because of how great the instructors are, but the academic advising and financial aid offices seriously bring the overall experience down.
I will be reporting my concerns to the appropriate agency because major improvements are needed in these departments. I have been attending Durham Tech for over a year, and unfortunately, nothing has improved.
