Truly a dining experience that is best enjoyed with a large group of people. We had the pleasure of trying the family style dinner among a large party and it was a fantastic time- every dish was absolutely delicious and we got to try just about the entire menu. The owner was an absolute joy to be around and it felt like the type of restaurant you are proud to support. Authentic and awesome! -
Italian dishes are always a personal favorite; this restaurant offers more of a unique authentic style of Italian cuisine. Assortment of dishes without overlapping and featuring pasta after pasta options. This restaurant has different choices.
What grows together goes together, there are some wonderful wine selections, various varietals that one may not have tried before. It’s incredible. Guests can purchase bottles from the restaurant, which is a bonus as many wines you can’t get on your own.
Overall, service both times by different team members was over the top type of hospitality care. The food is pretty flavorful + acceptable, but the wine list is the true showcase here; as it provides descriptions of each wine’s tasting profile and what to expect as you venture with a glass of it. -
A diamond in the rough. My wife and I come to Durham to eat quite a bit, since we’re close by in the Brier Creek area. We’ve never heard of this place, though the waiter said it’s been open for about 6 years now. The food was fantastic! Everything from the apps to the main courses were cooked and seasoned to perfection. We can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend! -
We had dinner at Convivio in Durham for a special night out but unfortunately left feeling unimpressed with the overall experience.
The Ambiance: The interior design and atmosphere are actually quite nice, offering a cozy and inviting setting that sets a high expectation for a premium Italian restaurant.
The Service: The hospitality was just average and nothing impressive. While our server was perfectly pleasant, the pacing was a bit slow and lacking in proactive attention—which was particularly noticeable given how empty the restaurant was during our visit.
The Food & Flavors: The culinary execution fell short as well. The dishes felt subpar and lacked the depth you expect at this price point. We couldn’t quite tell if the kitchen was focusing on a highly specific, unfamiliar region of Italy, or if they were trying to be overly creative with the menu. Ultimately, the flavor profiles were highly inconsistent and didn't deliver the classic, refined tastes we were hoping for.
It is a beautiful space, but both the dining room pacing and the kitchen's execution need more consistency to match the nice atmosphere. -
1. Poor communication
2. Rude service
3. Food does not justify attitude or price
We were extremely disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. From the beginning, the communication around our reservation was poor. Opentable made it impossible to modify our reservation, so we called the restaurant TWICE a week before, and the reservation was still wrong. We were required to pay a $180 deposit upfront and were clearly told it would be applied toward our meal. However, once the bill arrived, we were informed that the deposit would instead be refunded back to the card in 5–7 business days. That’s not what was communicated when booking, and it felt dishonest and unnecessarily inconvenient.
The food itself did not justify the attitude or pricing. The risotto was noticeably undercooked, and overall the meal was a poor value for the money.
To make matters worse, after an hour and 15 minutes--shortly after finishing our entrees and before ordering dessert--we were asked to rush and vacate our table within 15 minutes for the next seating, which made the entire evening (which was a special occasion) feel rushed and transactional rather than enjoyable.
This restaurant projects an air of arrogance that is completely unsupported by the quality of the food or service. There are far better places that actually value their customers.
