Kim greeted us right when we came in and she gave great suggestions when we weren’t sure what to order. We were first-timers here and from out of state visiting our son. Our whole experience was top notch from the moment we walked in the door. After ordering and waiting for our food, Kim ( one of the owners) came and visited with us and told us their story of how they started doing BBQ. The food was amazing and the best BBQ weve ever had, including every side dish. We also tried the banana pudding even Though we were too full to eat more and it was so incredible also. The whole experience was amazing and Kim made it even better. Will definitely go back next time we come to Durham.

Everything was delicious. It's very well located in a quiet area. There's parking. The employees are very friendly. Service was very fast. We barely ordered and the food was already served. The chairs are comfortable and the place is clean. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the brisket, the mac and cheese, and the ribs. Everything was delicious. I'm from Peru, and this was my last day in the United States. It's definitely my favorite barbecue restaurant in this country. I also want to thank James for giving me the mac and cheese. Kudos to the place! ❤️

Absolutely amazing, some of the best brisket I have ever had. This is very conveniently located off the interstate for a local taste of NC BBQ. Portion sizes are amazing and staff was very friendly and recommended the best options.

A REAL NC Bbq place, GOOOD Warm People with Oldschool Values, Kindness, Hospitality, and no prejudice on who they serve, as long as its good energy

With REAL, UNWATERED DOWN CHEERWINE, Corn Puppies, and rib sauce that's an addictive amoint of vinegar burn and a house vinegar sauce I had to ask for extras on and briskey that glistens so moist it SHINES

Byrd's BBQ is the premier destination for exceptional barbecue in North Carolina. Given my frequent visits to the state (at least four times monthly), Byrd's will undoubtedly become my preferred establishment. Please maintain your high standards. An extended operating schedule would be appreciated. For your planning purposes, my spouse's organization will be hosting an event in North Carolina this July, resulting in a significant increase in patronage for Byrd's. The quality of your establishment is truly outstanding.

First time here, we are new to the area.
Adorable restaurant! The people that work there are very friendly and knowledgeable about their place. We loved our whole experience. We had the Brisket, was wonderful. Slaw was very good. My green beans were really good too. We will definitely be back to try other things. Next time we need to try the Banana pudding.

Excellent food and friendly service. What a treat!
Kim made me and my colleague feel like we were coming home, to the best BBQ chef in the county.
Everything you can imagine is there with sides of beans, coleslaw, and fried okra to name my favorites. Plates, sandwiches, sides, with clean, fast service and customers who leave happy.

Not being from the area, we rely on reviews to find tasty vittles. Byrds BBQ is deserving of all the stars. Their brisket is some of the best we have had, and we have had a lot. The hush puppies were a nice surprise and even the tea was above average. Highly recommend.

Nice little BBQ place. Cute. Quaint seats for dine in or takeout. I found it one day by accident. Tried the food, loved it and husband sent me back for another special order! Pork, Baked beans, brisket and Brunswick stew really good. I like the coleslaw a lot also. He wasn’t a fan of the Cole slaw. Service was fast and friendly. We will come again!

It's been over 5 years since I've been here, and it's changed. I was apprehensive at first, but after my first bite of their brisket, I fell in love all over again. Onion rings, pickles, collards cooked right, 2 different types of sauce.....and much more. It's a long drive for us to come back here, but it's worth it. Thank you, James, and congratulations on getting Durhams best bbq award. We will be back!!!

Everything was so good. Well seasoned and very tender. I recommend trying the bbq ribs if you like extra seasoning. Nice and clean spot for a meal.
