Great food and awesome service! I had hands down the best ribs in my entire here and to top it all off the owner Kim so kindly gave us some banana pudding on the house. We will definitely be returning!

I had brisket, fries and baked beans. They were all pretty good. Brisket was tender and had decent flavor. The fries were fries, and the baked beans had a nice flavor with onions and meat. They have 2 bbq sauces: a vinegar based, and a sweet/smokey. The owner was really friendly, and the place was clean with a small seating area up front.

Byrd's BBQ is so good even the waitstaff at other restaurants recommend it, especially for great Southern cooking.
Just walking in the front door, you can tell you're in the right place - that Carolina style pork BBQ aroma makes you salivate even before getting to see the menu!
All ages come, and for their favorite dishes. The pork is pulled or sliced. The sides include the best of the classics, like mac n cheese, collards, and okra (the true test if you are eating authentic foods), the brisket is tender and the Brunswick stew is another plus. Of course, the patron I asked for her recommendation mentioned the banana pudding right off the bat (be still my heart!)

My daughter and I just found our new favorite barbecue spot. Seriously check Byrds BBQ out. I think the owner said his name was James. Super nice guy. Him and his wife run to place. They are natives of Durham. This restaurant has a vibe I can't really describe. You just got to check it out. Right now they close at 5:00. They serve breakfast and lunch but they are expanding.

I had to take my wig off to enjoy this food. It was so good!! I got the pulled bbq sandwich combo that comes with one side and some hushpuppies. My husband got the small rib plate that comes with two sides. I love it. I've passed this location numerous of times and never gave it a second thought. I'm glad I tried them today and there only five minutes from my house. What I really enjoyed was sitting in the parking lot and smelling that smokey smell. Will definitely be back and may even buy a few plates for my parents. Byrd's thank you!!

As a Texan, I would, without hesitation, choose Byrd’s BBQ over our famous DFW and Austin barbecue. Not as heavy, incredible depth of flavor, and as delicious as it was, Kim’s service was even better. She brought us all kinds of samples and catered to both the elders and toddler in our party. As a part-time vegetarian, this meat was worth it!

Don't let the "every new BBQ place ever" renovation fool you. This is a legit roadside Q shack. When I saw the corrugated metal chair rail, grey paint, and photo mural, I was super worried this place was ruined. But the food is as great as ever, and the serving size will leave you wanting to take a nap. Been here a few times since the refresh and have been very impressed.

The Mac and cheese is a great side item as are the beans and the tea is perfect. Stop in if you get a chance.

We were traveling the East Coast to our home in Texas. We wanted to eat barbecue in North Carolina (North Carolina and Texas are known for good barbecue ). Found Byrds. The barbecue was wonderful. We had brisket, ribs, baked beans and Mac and cheese and banana pudding. It was all delicious. The owner Kim came out and personally visited with us. The atmosphere was very friendly and the food was great. I highly recommend!!! Family owned and locally operated too!

Great little barbecue place north of 98 in Durham. This day I had the beef brisket sandwich and it was so good. The rub was delicious and the meat was juicy can't ask for much more. They have a variety of dishes and sandwiches pork beef and chicken plus hot dogs and hamburgers. There are also open for breakfast and I've been there once before and it was fine. Prices are reasonable too.

A surprisingly excellent off the beaten path restaurant. The food was amazing. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful. This was the first time I ate there did not even know this place existed, but now I will be back. They smoke the BBQ, and brisket . And they tasted great. The price is affordable,and the owner comes out to check on everyone to make sure their food is good. Thanks to the cook as well. See yall soon

Did a quick breakfast search before my delivery. I came across this place. After reading the reviews I had to try for myself. did not disappoint! Their breakfast bowl was really good. Cannot wait to try some some of the other food next time I come.

The staff was very pleasant. I ordered take out and food was ready when I arrived. The family enjoyed Barbecue so much we went back for breakfast. They had quite a few customers come in for breakfast. I especially liked the pancakes they were very good. Will be going back for the brisket on the menu.

I came up Friday May 26 around 4. I'm from Atlanta. I came with a co worker. He's been there before and I wanted BBQ so he insisted that we go there. Glad we did. The experience was AWESOME. Ms. Kim and the crew was excellent. Cashiers, servers, cooks and everyone was right at it and on point. The food was delicious and definitely prepared with love. Thanks everyone. Great brisket and ribs!! mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and hush puppies were good too! Not to mention the banana pudding!! Delicious. Great spot. Met the owners as well and they are as nice as can be. Kind and customer oriented staff too. Have to check it out.

I believe these guys may have just taken the number one spot for barbecue in Durham. The new owners know what they are doing back there. The place has basically been gutted and rebuilt. They put some real love into the building and they are definitely putting some love on the plates. Very clean restaurant and excellent service! This place is a must-try if you're in Durham
