How can I live in the area for almost 10 years and have just learned of this place ⁉️ Little hole-in-the wall with good BBQ, great service and the best most-welcoming staff I've seen in months, maybe years. Stopped in 27FEB23 with a friend from work. I had the pulled pork platter with hush puppies, mashed potatoes and green beans. It was awesome,l‼️‼️🙌🏻 I'll definitely be stopping back Often. If you haven't tried this place and you like barbecue, you should go. Trust me!

12.20.2022 Stumbled on these folks whilst "not lost" in Durham. I'm a big BBQ fan and therefore a harsh critic. I find more BBQ joints I don't like than ones I do. That said, this place is fantastic. The brisket sandwich is served on buttery Texas toast. The meat has a nice deep pink smoke ring and a remarkable smokey flavor. The beans were the perfect amount of sweet and savory. I'll definitely be back and you should give this new startup a visit. It just might be your new favorite Durham BBQ joint. I know it's mine. 12.30.2022 As promised, I'm back. This time I tried the pulled pork. While I am not a big fan of Carolina style with the vinegar mop, I did enjoy the sandwich. The sweet sauce on the table cut right through the vinegar and I liked it very much. Potato salad also had a touch of sweetness and went really well with the pork.

This BBQ is great for a quick lunch or picking up to bring home for dinner. The portions are decently sized. Drinks come in cans or bottled water, with lemonade and tea getting free refills. I love that it is a family-owned business. I've tried their lunch items and breakfast items, all very good.

Byrd's BBQ is a hidden gem. The bbq is cooked to perfection and has a tender savory flavor. The baked beans are to die for. I was very happy with the portion size. The small town family atmosphere is something you cannot put a price on. The staff were warm and inviting. Go have yourself a loving home-cooked meal.

Had lunch here this week, it was fantastic! The portion size was very generous (I had the small BBQ Plate, it was so much food!) Got to meet one of the owners, Kim, and she was so sweet! Can't wait to go back again!

If your looking for one of those old, established, non-chain, locals favorite BBQ place this is it, look no more. The vibe is 100% authentic and the food is hot, well proportioned and above all a taste experience that is what brings the locals back again and again. It is a little bit "out there" from central Durham but worth the 8 minute drive.

Totally didn't know this place existed. Elevated BBQ in a low-key atmosphere. The brisket was very good and the greens were as well.

Long established BBQ place with all the sides. Flavorful, moist, and the sauce is great. They also offer some surprising iptuon like the waygu burger. Great place, authentic southern BBQ, and wonder people.

A must stop for North Carolina BBQ in Durham. Get the pulled pork, with sides, all are great, and sit a while. I'm definitely coming back for the amazing food and hospitality!

Sorry, no picture, I had nearly cleared my plate before I thought of it. This place is a hole in the wall, in the best sense of the term. If a small side of the road, family run BBQ Joint is your thing, then you need to check out Byrd's BBQ. The pork was pulled, not chopped. I prefer pulled pork, it is my opinion pulled pork is harder to execute well than chopped. The pork was clean, had a great flavor with good smoke, seasoning, and a nice chew. I also ordered a rib to try, it was too was excellent. Good smoke, tender but not overcooked, and a nice subtle amount of sauce. Just enough sauce to make me use a napkin, but not covering up the meat by drenching in sauce. Both my wife and I agreed, the collards were some of the best we have had. If you happen to be in the Raleigh / Durham area and are looking for a good "Mom and Pop" BBQ Joint, check out Byrd's BBQ.
