Aperitif is an upscale neighborhood bar that brings a downtown experience to our customers' backyard in the University Hills complex. The drink program includes an extensive wine list, seasonally rotating cocktails, craft beer, kombucha, cider and seltzer. The food program focuses on petite, shareable desserts and also includes appetizers, sandwiches, salads and soups for a whole meal. Enjoy an evening on the terrace as you watch the sunset.

We had our baby shower at Apéritif yesterday, ~40 friends and family, and *everyone* complimented their favorite food items (deviled eggs, egg rolls, canapes, flatbreads), the seasonal decadent cocktails, and how spacious and nice the space was.
Several people outside of our party dined outside on the outdoor balcony patio while we had our festivities inside and there was zero issue with service accommodating all of us.
Jason and his team were helpful, kind, and on top of taking care of us the throughout all of it. Thank's again, y'all!! -
Love the service and the drinks taste amazing and are well crafted. Our bartender Patrick was super personable and friendly! Armani made our food and it was ridiculously delicious.
10/10 would go again no question.

Wow really pretty and delicious cocktail! The sandwich was good but I thought it could be warm. i also really liked the cheesecake. The flatbread was decent ( but as my friend said, no protein.) overall a really good place to grab a drink with some snacks big big really a restaurant.

Aperitif restaurant in Durham, NC, is a fantastic spot! The atmosphere is spacious, airy, and relaxing, making it perfect for group gatherings. If you're looking for a cozy date night instead, it’s an excellent choice too. Great food and ambiance all around! Highly recommend!

Unlike the true meaning of this restaurant which means to open with a light alcoholic drink called an Apéritif or an Aperitivo in Italian, the portions and the vast selection of their well-set café-like menu is quite the heavy meal you would have for an afternoon or evening. Nestled in Durham, I made the journey all the way from Raleigh after hearing much about their Millionaire’s Grilled Cheese Sandwich which I had with Tomato & Basil Soup, but their menu has a lot more for me, as a vegetarian, to try.
I made the journey with a friend on a sweltering Sauna-like Sunday afternoon. There was a private event going on when we arrived so we decided to sit outside to have our meal despite the stifling heat and humidity. We were greeted immediately by our waitress who is certainly a star at what she does. I straight away went for the Millionaire’s Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato & Basil Soup and a White Lotus Sandwich with Potato Chips to go, while my friend ordered the Santorini Sandwich with two cups of Tomato & Basil Soup.
Simply put, they were a triumph. The pale and buttery gooey goodness of Grand Cru Alpine Cheese, Provolone, Mozzarella, and Sharp Cheddar slowly oozing out between the golden-brown grilled and crisp slices of Sourdough Bread slathered with herbed butter, with a side of acidic and herbaceous cup of warm and slightly chunky Tomato Basil Soup, was simply ambrosial. The Sandwich was clearly a star and it certainly tasted a million dollars although it was only 14. My only whim would be if the slices of bread were a little more generously slathered in that herbed butter, perhaps I may have gotten a deeper maybe a more interesting flavour altogether.
The White Lotus Sandwich was equally triumphant. Sweet and Sour slices of Sun-dried Tomatoes and caramelised onion slaw paired with fresh and creamy mozzarella and the slightly nutty and rich goat’s cheese with the background of herbed dijon butter between two slices of grilled golden-brown sourdough was a strong contender to the ever-so popular and ubiquitous Caprese Sandwich and certainly leaves one wanting for more.
My friend was in love with his Santorini sandwich, but he clearly preferred the soup over his sandwich and I’m quite sure he would’ve loved to have an entire enormous bowl of it.
My mistake, I couldn’t remember our waitress’ name, but she is a sweet and fun person and very accommodating. My humble gratitude to her.
All in all, do come here if you fancy some brilliantly delicious brunch food with a good glass of wine or actually an Apéritif. I know, I shall certainly be back someday to try more of their vegetarian goodies. Their menu is quite commendable from the perspective of a picky vegetarian.
