Beautiful course. Staff is awesome! Fran and Steve are super cool and helpful! A hidden gem, this course has GPS screens on each cart, You instantly know how far you are to the whole and can see other players ahead of you, a great safety tool, as well as order food after your great round! It would be five stars except for the price and variable slow play. -
Will give it 5 stars based on what I expect the conditions to be like in warmer weather. You can tell the course is well cared for and even though it had a rained a LOT there was not a lot of standing water or super soggy spots. Greens were in good condition considering early March play. They're renovating parts of the clubhouse but assume this will be done for later spring. Staff is nice and price isn't too high so I'll definitely be back! -
The course was in good shape. Would have hoped the pace of play would have been better mid-week mid-day, but the conditions and value were worth it. -
I’ve had multiple frustrating experiences at Umstead Pines Golf Course, but the biggest issue is the complete lack of organization with golf carts.
Every time I play here, there’s a long wait for carts because they’re clearly short on supply. What’s worse is there’s no system for distributing them fairly. On my most recent visit, my group had an earlier tee time, but they gave a cart to a solo player with a later tee time simply because he was alone. Meanwhile, my group of four was left waiting, even though we were scheduled first.
That kind of disorganization throws off the entire round and makes the experience stressful instead of enjoyable. If you’re going to operate with limited carts, there needs to be a clear and fair system—especially one that respects tee times.
Until they fix this, I’d recommend planning extra time or considering other courses if you don’t want your round delayed before it even starts. -
Course was in good shape. Staff was professional,
accommodation very nice and clean. Would come back again.
