This place just opened and their food and service is outstanding. The flavors, textures, and presentation scream Texas. Love this place

Such a nice surprise place in Durham! Went for a walk on the ATT campus and just stumbled upon it and so happy we did! The empanadas were fantastic and the others I was with loved the trays and the sides! We will definitely be back!!

great food and great customer service, the food announcer was a bit hard to hear when busy. Also for my Little Sampler Tray i would have liked side plates. The empanadas were amazing!

I’ve now gone to East of Texas 4 times, twice during their soft opening and twice in the time they’ve officially opened. They’ve mastered ordering while having a line out to the courtyard, taking feedback, and serving customers promptly and efficiently while still being kind and caring about each person.

The food is amazing. True barbecue holds up on its own without sauce, and East Of Texas lives up to that. PLUS their sauce is great and a nice break from the typical vinegar bbq sauces you get here in NC. The sides are creative and delicious.

Food and drinks are all liberally sized for their price so you will absolutely get your money’s worth on anything you order.

This place also has a fantastic vibe for anyone looking to take kids, friends or family somewhere they can sit and “pig out” in a clean and welcoming atmosphere.

Ive taken vastly different groups of people with me on each visit and I’ve never had a complaint, even with my pickiest of eaters. One of us had something too spicy for our palette and the team took care of us at no charge. This is proof to me that if you do have feedback or aren’t happy with something, they listen and will make whatever it is right, because they care about their quality and their customer.

TLDR: Fantastic true barbecue in a clean, non-pretentious atmosphere with friendly staff and something on the menu for anyone in your life.

Give East of Texas a shot, you won’t regret it. Glad to have you folks in Durham!

This place is so fun. The nachos are great and the portion is HUGE so definitely shareable by several people. Although it’s counter service, the customer service was top notch, staff walked by and checked on our table several times and I was able to order another margarita from them as the carry handheld devices that can add orders. I got a blood orange marg with jalapeños and salt rim and it was FANTASTIC. Everything is super fresh.
