Matty Frank: Farewell Carolina Show

Matty Frank is a singer/songwriter/producer/person based in Durham, NC. He’s been making music ever since he discovered the beat sequencer app on his dad’s flip phone in like 2004. Raised on a diet of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, The Beach Boys, and video game OSTs, this former band/choir kid strictly composed instrumentals for years before finally admitting to being a songwriter. Frank is currently inspired by quite the range of sounds, from the pop-forward indie rock his American Sadboi EP, to the freak folks affecting the sound of the debut album, Dooda. Noted in the Triangle’s scene for his characteristic vocal range, omnichord virtuosity, and clarinet playing, fans describe his lyrics as being at once abstract and tangible, all-encompassing and painfully specific.
