Dances to American Music is a vibrant celebration of the rich tapestry of American music and dance. Set to a composition by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Pizzica is a high-energy work that bursts with rhythmic vitality and fiery flair. The dynamic You’ve Got to Be Modernistic revels in the music of jazz and stride piano pioneer James P. Johnson. The solo Three Preludes showcases Gershwin’s jazzy elegance and rhythmic brilliance, while high-spirited, honky-tonk country classics accompany Going Away Party, a dance inspired by Western country social gatherings.
