The Magic of Patinas: New Works by Jackie MacLeod
Works in Metals by Jackie MacLeod
Jackie’s wall-based compositions in copper, brass, and steel, and both natural and man made patinas celebrate imperfection and surprise.
Patinas, the thin layers of color that normally develop on metal after being exposed to the environment, or from specific artistic processes, are utilized in a variety of ways. Their reactions are difficult to predict, and successes happen both by design and by happy surprises and subsequent intuitive responses.
Jackie specializes in creating architectural metalwork, wall art and sculpture in copper, brass, steel, wood and concrete for inside the home or business and outdoors. She moved to Durham in 2007, and in 2008 transitioned to a full time artist from her previous career as a medical doctor.
